TTC #1 - third cycle and already struggling emotionally

Hello!

Okay so with a little more background so I don't sound like a crazy person!

2 years ago myself and my ex partner started ttc. Within 2 cycles I fell pregnant (although I didn't actually find out until 7 weeks as I have very irregular periods). sadly I miscarried at 13 weeks and am no longer with this partner.

Fast forward a year and a half and have now made the decision with my current partner. Started ttc end of April and have since had my second AF arrive yesterday. I'm finding it so much harder this time round and can't help but feel so emotional. I know it's a long process for anyone and I should be prepared for it to possibly be even longer for myself but I just can't seem to keep spirits up.

I'm hoping that talking to others and helping you all will help me stay positive and less of a crazy woman with each AF that arrives 🙈.

Thanks guys x

@NL1986 my first two cycles I symptom spotted like crazy! But I think they must have been symptoms I always get but never paid enough attention to before to notice. Last cycle I didn’t notice anything different.. and AF still turned up 😒

@emmalou19 sorry to hear AF showed up! What cycle are you on now? I’m finding the emotional side really hard. I keep getting to a point where I feel okay, then something makes me want to have a cry again!

lab19 · 17/07/2019 19:44

Hi girls,

Hope you don't mind me joining!

We are ttc #1, cycle 3
My cycle has been so messed up this month, I last had a period beginning of June, then went on a few long haul flights end of June which I think has completely messed up my cycles as I have missed my July period completely! Obvs done loads of tests but all negative!

So now I'm on cycle day 45! I have been doing OPKs the last week or so, literally got a zero yesterday and now got an almost positive today! Annoyingly husband is away tonight and not back until tomorrow night. We last had sex on Monday so now may have missed out again this month Confused

So annoying this TTC, why is it such hard work!

NL1986 · 19/07/2019 15:33

@lab19 Welcome to the group :)

It is such hard work isn't it...i wasn't prepared for how long and complex it would be. It does sound like your having a bit of a weird cycle i had a few of those after coming off the pill, it makes things even harder doesn't it. Hopefully if you DTD on Monday and after your husband got back you still managed to time it within your fertile window...keeping fingers crossed for you!

Hope everyone has lovely busy weekends planned :)

Madaleinerw · 19/07/2019 16:00

@NL1986 I was truly ecstatic when I fell pregnant so quickly, although I didn't actually find out until over 7 weeks! I think that's another reason I'm finding it harder this time round because I'm not conceiving as quick!

So I'm actually not so hot on the symptom spotting. For 2 reasons, I didn't get any last time and I know they are quite rare and so similar to AF symptoms. That said, I do have that voice in my head saying 'ooo that could have been an implantation twinge' sort of things.

Welcome @lab19 you poor thing, that cycle sounds exhausting! It sounds like the long haul flights haven't helped and the longer the cycle goes on for, the more you'll get frustrated about it and that also won't help!

Hope you managed to catch the fw!

Happy Friday lovelies!

Stupid irregular cycles still - no AF for 6 weeks (and pregnancy tests are negative before you ask, ha!). Doc says it could just be too early to test but I'm trying to stay realistic and not get my hopes up too much.

I have a blood test booked for Friday and then waiting for my ultrasound appointment (to check ovaries etc.) to come through the mail. They just want to rule everything out that could be causing the irregular cycle and make sure everything is in working order.

Fingers crossed it's all clear and it's only a matter of DTD and waiting for some baby dust to happen.

Is anyone else finding it hard to balance not getting their hopes up but equally trying not being too negative? I'm sparing DH in this roller coaster (obviously telling him about the tests etc. but rather so it doesn't zap all the fun out of D2D and TTC).

emmalou19 · 22/07/2019 08:10

@sojo44 hopefully blood tests will rule some things out, fingers crossed for you, I imagine it's really frustrating not knowing what you're supposed to expect with your cycle.

Just coming up to FW on cycle 3. It's our first wedding anniversary this month so trying to stay positive. It's it's a BFP then amazing, if it's BFN at least I can have some drinks and steak to celebrate!

Madaleinerw · 22/07/2019 08:48

@sojo44 absolutely a good thing to get all checked out. I think it will allow you to have realistic expectations :).

I am also sparing OH of the madness. I think I'm ok and very of the mindset that if it happens then great but try not to get to excited incase I just get let down. Then when AF arrives I'm an absolute mess for a couple days. I can't deny that I do get excited at the idea of seeing a BFP though!

@emmalou19 ah what a lovely celebration for you both. It's great that you're trying to give yourself two positive outcomes :)! Good luck sweet!

I think it is safe to say AF is due in the next day or so. Boobs are in agony and in the last two hours my mood has gone right down. It literally just flipped from being happy and chirpy to downright grumpy and irritable. Getting so aggy for no reason! Yay :|

OP posts:
NL1986 · 24/07/2019 11:39

@Madaleinerw I hate that flip of anger just before AF...did it show up in the end for you? Hoping not.

I had my first lot of blood tests a couple of days ago...feels good to be taking control of the situation a bit. I had a very strange thing happen last night...I am 8DPO and after me and my fiancé DTD i had some bleeding and a little bit again this morning. Its stopped now but i am a bit concerned...will see if it happens again and will have to go back to the doctor i guess.

How are the rest of you doing?

Madaleinerw · 24/07/2019 13:59

@NL1986 AF hasn't shown yet but I know it will tonight/tomorrow morning unless some kind of miricle happens!

Do you know how long you need to wait for your results?

That is strange, perhaps see if it happens again and then go to the doctors if it does!

Hi everyone!

I’m also TTC #1 and about to enter cycle 4 but I’m also really struggling emotionally! My DH told me his friends wife was expecting their 2nd baby and I cried because I wished it was me 🙈 dramatic, I know! I came off the pill in February after over 4 years and my periods came back regular almost instantly but not as heavy as before. They’re now 2 days full on and 2 days light/spotting. I’ve been using OPK’s and seem to have been ovulating though so I’m hoping everything is still ok! X

Madaleinerw · 24/07/2019 23:06

Hi @Makingawish it would appear I'm just about to enter cycle 4 - AF is definitely looming. It is so difficult, I know exactly how you feel. My partners sister is currently 7 months pregnant and I get so emotional that I avoid being around her! It seems so silly and selfish but I just get frustrated and upset. Especially people ask when I'll have children!

It's great that you went back to normal nice and quickly! After 4 years of the pill it's not surprising your periods are lighter and it's good that you're ovulating too!

It's definitely not a easy done as they make out in school! I used to be so scared I'd fall pregnant when in reality it just isn't that easy!

Hi- Can I join you ladies? I am on cycle 1.. but have no idea actually where in that cycle I am.. Sad
Ha Mirena coil removed 8th July. Had 2 days of light bleeding. Was this Af or removal bleed?? Who knows. Had a positive (I think) opk 17th July.
Have no had periods for about 7 years with coils in. It's so hard no knowing where I am!! Aghhhh the frustration.
I have 2 DD's by the way. Aged 8 and 10 :)

Madaleinerw · 25/07/2019 07:17

Hi@flissity
That would be your withdrawal bleed. I think you probably need to give your body time to get back into the swing of things abit which can take a while but on the flip side it might not take long at all :)

Lovely that you have two DDs already :)

OP posts:
flissity · 25/07/2019 08:18

@Madaleinerw yes I think it must be!

Makingawish · 25/07/2019 11:00

@Madaleinerw how long have you been trying? I would really struggle with that too. I’m glad my periods came back quick but I expected them to come back with a vengeance so I’m glad they never. Not that they were ever particularly troublesome anyway! I’ve started using the CB ovulation kit this morning just to make sure I am ovulating though as them cheaper OPK’s can be difficult to read! X

Madaleinerw · 25/07/2019 15:34

@Makingawish so I've been actively trying since April so not very long but I haven't been strictly using contraception for 18 months. I have been told before that conception will likely take longer for me due to lack of estrogen in my body but 2 years ago I fell pregnant within 2 months of trying. Sadly resulted in a miscarriage at 13 weeks. I think that's why I'm finding it harder this time as I was expecting to fall pregnant quickly again!

I've not yet used any ovulation kits but I'm keen to know if people find they help so please tell me how you get on Smile

OP posts:
Makingawish · 25/07/2019 16:03

@Madaleinerw I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage but that’s positive that you managed to conceive after only 2 months last time which shows it’s possible! I’ve not fell pregnant yet so I’m not sure how accurate these opk’s actually are but I’ll keep you posted 😊

Madaleinerw · 26/07/2019 08:19

@Makingawish when you say the cheap ones are harder to read, what do you mean? Do you get any ov symptoms? I get a lot of EWCM and ov pain so I roughly know.

OP posts:
Makingawish · 26/07/2019 09:40

@Madaleinerw like when one line has to be darker than the other but so many things can affect it like how hydrated you are and what time of day you do it. I also believe that everybody’s peak is different and there’s no way of the cheap ones knowing your baseline. I do usually get ewcm though and ocsssionally some light cramps.

LorraineG90 · 26/07/2019 11:13

Hi Ladies,

First ever post on MN :) - Is it ok if I join?

Me and my husband are TTC for our first and we're in our 3rd cycle too. I ovulate next week and have been using the app Flo. I know its ridiculous because it's only been 2 months of trying so far, but I'm starting to feel a bit anxious about it all too, so totally relate to this thread. The women in my family all seem to be super fertile despite there being a history of fibroids in the family. Unlike other females in my family though, I've always had horrendous periods since my early teens (I'm now 29) but they have always been regular.
This month I've bought Pregnacare conception vitamins and Preseed fertility sperm, so hoping for a BFP! Dreading the 2 week wait though because I get a bit obsessed symptom spotting!

Makingawish · 26/07/2019 11:17

Hi @LorraineG90, when do you ovulate? I’m on CD 10 so will also be ovulating early next week hopefully! I’m also using preseed this month 🤞 we might be in our tww together and can both symptom spot as I’m also terrible with it! X

Madaleinerw · 26/07/2019 12:18

Hi @LorraineG90 of course, welcome!

Good that you're on vitamins :) I use Viridian Fertility for Woman and partner is on Wellman.

The 2ww is so hard but hopefully you and @Makingawish can do it together!

OP posts:
LorraineG90 · 26/07/2019 12:56

@Makingawish Hi! I'm currently on cycle day 12, so we might be in the TWW together 😊! My app says that I have a strong chance of getting pregnant between 28th July and 3rd August with predicted ovulation day as 1st August! I've never tried any ovulation tests or anything but if I have no luck this month, I might consider giving them a go next month! The app seems to be pretty accurate at predicting my periods though so I'm hoping it's the same for ovulation! Hoping the preseed helps cos the reviews I saw were amazing and I bagged it half price in Superdrug last week!

@Madaleinerw Thanks so much Madaleine! I wasn't sure whether to ask my husband to take vitamins too, but the Pregnacare his and her vitamins were quite pricey so I thought I'd try that maybe down the line! Besides conception though, I genuinely feel like the vitamins are making me feel a lot better in myself skin and hair wise, so that's always a plus! 😊

Makingawish · 26/07/2019 13:05

@LorraineG90 Flo has my ovulation as 30th July so yeah, we’re pretty close! How do you tell you’re ovulating or have ovulated? I was just looking at the joint pregnacare vitamins but like you said they’re so expensive so I’ll stick to folic acid for now x
