TTC #1 - third cycle and already struggling emotionally

Hello!

Okay so with a little more background so I don't sound like a crazy person!

2 years ago myself and my ex partner started ttc. Within 2 cycles I fell pregnant (although I didn't actually find out until 7 weeks as I have very irregular periods). sadly I miscarried at 13 weeks and am no longer with this partner.

Fast forward a year and a half and have now made the decision with my current partner. Started ttc end of April and have since had my second AF arrive yesterday. I'm finding it so much harder this time round and can't help but feel so emotional. I know it's a long process for anyone and I should be prepared for it to possibly be even longer for myself but I just can't seem to keep spirits up.

I'm hoping that talking to others and helping you all will help me stay positive and less of a crazy woman with each AF that arrives 🙈.

Thanks guys x

@MrsS147 I'm feeling average. I'm in a crappy situation where my sister in law is pregnant. It was unplanned and she didn't want children for a long time. It's so difficult because I'm insanely jealous but I am also happy for her.

Try not to worry about not having symptoms. With my pregnancy that resulted in miscarriage, I didn't have any symptoms at all until at least 8 weeks!

@Madaleinerw I can understand, it’s hard to see people close to you pregnant when it’s all you want, but still be happy at the same time. Someone at work is having a baby (luckily it’s the dad so I don’t have to see the bump!) but it comes up in conversation a lot and it’s hard not to feel jealous!

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I’m hoping the no symptoms is a good thing. I suppose it’s a lot easier than having random symptoms the past 2 cycles and wondering what’s causing them just to be disappointed by a BFN!

emmalou19 · 07/07/2019 19:03

Hi all, mind if I join? We're TTC #1 and I'm only on cycle 2 and really struggling emotionally. We've been thinking about trying for a really long time but wanted to get some big holidays out of the way. A couple of friends conceived on their first cycle and so when we didn't I've automatically assumed that there's something wrong with me and it will never happen. I'm also completely able to rationalise all aspects of it and the reality of how long it might take, but that's quite hard to put into practice!

So I suppose nothing new to add but OP I do understand how you feel and it's just nice to know I'm not the only one! X

Madaleinerw · 07/07/2019 20:09

@MrsS147 I feel bad for being jealous and negative about her being pregnant because it's lovely that she is but when it's all around you it's not so easy to push away those feelings and emotions. It's her baby shower next week too!

@emmalou19 hi, of course you can! You really aren't alone! It's very tricky to not automatically think something isn't right! I even look for reasons even though I know that it really can just take time.

MrsS147 · 07/07/2019 20:45

Welcome @emmalou19 👋🏻 I felt exactly the same when our first time didn’t try. Out of the people I knew how long it took, I only know of people it happened for first time or people who really struggled so I felt like there must be something wrong too. The second time AF came wasn’t as hard as the first for me though. Best of luck to you 🤞🏻

@Madaleinerw I think it’s just natural to feel jealous, I feel like such a horrible person sometimes for the way I feel.
Hopefully the baby shower isn’t too hard for you 💐 and hopefully your BFP comes soon 🤞🏻

Madaleinerw · 07/07/2019 22:31

@MrsS147 it's strange how people seem to either really struggle or fall pregnant at the drop of a hat isn't it!

I hope we all get our BFPs soon and then we'll all look back on this and think what on earth was making us so crazy haha!

OP posts:
MrsS147 · 08/07/2019 07:58

@Madaleinerw I know, if only it was nice and easy for everyone! Hopefully we will all get our BFPs soon!

How many dpo are you now? I’m 9/10 dpo and really want to test, but going to try wait until Wednesday or Thursday. I hate the waiting game!

Madaleinerw · 08/07/2019 09:28

@MrsS147 I've not even ov yet. I have long, irregular cycles so I don't normally ov until at least cd19.

I think you should hold off. Wait as long as possible to test. It breaks my heart when I don't see a BFP so I try not to test unless it is pretty obvious that I've missed AF. I know that's easier said than done but in the long run you'll feel better for it

OP posts:
MrsS147 · 08/07/2019 12:33

@Madaleinerw what CD are you now? It must be hard having long irregular cycles. I find it hard enough waiting with an average cycle length.

I’d personally rather see a BFN before AF arrives. I like having the few days to prepare myself, I’m quite impatient and like to know one way or another!

Madaleinerw · 08/07/2019 16:50

@MrsS147 I am currently at cd15 but with no signs of ov apart from bloating which is something I usually get up to a week before I ov. We shall see what occurs in the next few days!

Ah in that case, test at dpo 12 I think! Are you usually 28days?

OP posts:
MrsS147 · 08/07/2019 17:52

@Madaleinerw hopefully ov turns up soon then and you get some we’ll tomed BD’ing in!

It’s funny how different people mentally take seeing a BFN vs waiting until AF shows! I’ll be either 11/12dpo Wednesday so think I’ll cave and test then and see what happens 😅 I feel really unpregnant though and like there’s no way I’m going to get a BFP.

I’m usually 27 days, but can range from 25-28!

Madaleinerw · 08/07/2019 19:19

@MrsS147 hopefully! Although, I'd rather be this side of ov than in the 2ww!

It is isn't it! hopefully you're just not getting any symptoms and your body is tricking you!

I'm to scared to take a test because I feel like I'd go off the scale crazy if I saw a bfn haha!

Ah ok, I guess it'd be a pretty sure sign if you went past 28 days then? Mine are normally minimum of 35 days but have been known to go up to 47. They've got much better recently though.

Happy Friday girls!

How are we all feeling?

@MrsS147 how did Wednesday go? Did you test?

I'm currently confused with what is going on with my cycle! I still don't think I have ov'd.. normally I get really obvious ewcm and also intense ov pain but so far I've not had anything! Looks like this one will be a longgggg cycle!

sojo44 · 12/07/2019 11:31

Hi,

I'm in the same boat too!
TTC #1 and first cycle (I have irregular periods so no bloody clue (no pun intended) when AF will decide to strike or the second cycle begins...).

A little frustrating as it just becomes pure trial and error and hope we've managed to get the timing right with no cycles. Getting impatient to test now (counting from TTC date as it's the only thing I can go by). Symptom spotting (but I think it's all in my head and being irrational)!

Hopefully we all get some good baby dust soon :)

emmalou19 · 12/07/2019 11:33

Happy Friday gals! AF due tomorrow, normal symptoms sore boobs etc, if it doesn't arrive tomorrow I might test on Sunday. My cycles have been pretty regular 29-31 days for the past 6 months although in the past two years Ive had a few anomalies where it's been a 45 day cycle, so just my luck this month has been one of those!

MrsS147 · 12/07/2019 15:19

Hi ladies!

@Madaleinerw I tested, got BFN and AF has just arrived this afternoon, so onto cycle 4 for me! Hoping you get an obvious answer as to whether you’ve ov’d soon!

Best of luck to you @sojo44 and @emmalou19 🤞🏻

Madaleinerw · 12/07/2019 18:56

@MrsS147 oh I'm sorry to hear that lovely :(. Throw yourself a little pitty party and then get AF out of the way! Hopefully AF doesn't hang around to long for you?

Welcome @sojo44 irregular periods are the worst aren't they! Hopefully you got it right with the timing and you'll be a first cycle girl :)

@emmalou19 good luck! Got my fingers crossed AF doesn't show tomorrow!

Morning all!

How are you all feeling? I'm in the 2ww and feeling pretty flat.

This cycle has been very odd. Had 3 days worth of ov pain and now still getting mild cramps but absolutely no ewcm.

Hope you're all having a good week!

OP posts:
MrsS147 · 17/07/2019 12:56

@Madaleinerw AF is only really heavy for 2 days, then 2 days where it’s really light so could be worse! She’s gone now so just waiting around for FW now! I felt really down the first few days AF was hear, but feel a lot more positive now. I know it can take a while, but really thought it’d have happened by now 😔 some days I feel like it will never happen!

Sorry to hear you’re feeling a bit flat! This whole process is so emotional, I wish it was easy for everyone!

@emmalou19 did AF turn up for you?

How are you getting on @sojo44 ?

NL1986 · 17/07/2019 14:56

Hi Girls!

I am also back in the dreaded 2WW! I don't ever really get OV symptoms but my ovulation predictor kit showed and flashing and still smiley face when expected so hoping everything happened as expected.

This is my 'proper' cycle 7 (didn't count the first one off the pill) and i am getting beyond impatient now. I actually went to the doctors last week and requested some routine blood tests which i am booked in for over the next couple of weeks to get my hormone levels and key vitamins checked...it was probably too early to get the doctors involved but i just want to know if my body is actually back in the right rhythm after being on the pill for 18 years.

@Madaleinerw I know its easy to say but try to stay positive...when is your next AF due?

Madaleinerw · 17/07/2019 15:02

@MrsS147 ah, similar to me then. It's frustrating because I know if can take months and months but I can't seem to apply that to myself.

@NL1986 never a bad idea to get your bloods checked. My doctor hates it when I ask and is always so reluctant to agree. Not that I ask often!

AF should be due around 26/27th so still a while to go!

OP posts:
NL1986 · 17/07/2019 15:10

@Madaleinerw mines due on 31st July so we can ride out the wait together. Really hope we get some good news on the thread this month :)

Have you had your bloods checked before then? do you mind me asking which tests you had? My doctor has referred me for a Progesterone and LH test plus a B12 check.

Madaleinerw · 17/07/2019 15:50

@NL1986 I hope so too!

Yep, had plenty of blood counts done in the past. I used to suffer from anaemia so often had a full blood count test done Also I have previously been told I would struggle to conceive so had plenty of tests done back then but if I'm honest I've no idea exactly what they were and it ended up being due to suffering with eating disorders as a teen but that seemed to not be the case as just under two years ago I fell pregnant within 2 months of ttc! Unfortunately resulted in miscarriage but I conceived nonetheless!

I also follow a vegan diet so it's never a bad thing to get my bloods checked :)

OP posts:
NL1986 · 17/07/2019 16:11

@Madaleinerw yes the fact you conceived and so quickly can only be a positive sign that everything is ok...so sorry it ended in a miscarriage. You are right and getting them checked can't hurt :)

So does anyone else drive themselves crazy 'symptom' spotting during the TWW? The first week of the wait i am really calm and relaxed and the second week I turn into a complete maniac...I notice every twinge and it has made it so much harder when AF does show up because I half dare to believe it could be my month. I am finding it really hard to have a balance between being positive and not getting my hopes up...anyone else struggling with that?

emmalou19 · 17/07/2019 17:54

@MrsS147 yeah AF turned up on Sunday pretty much bang on time. I had a little cry but I held out to do any FRER before which I think was better for me. It feels so pathetic to be upset after such a short space of time but the TWW is actually a long time to get your hopes up!
