Hi all,

Never posted on a public forum before so go easy on me- I like the idea of the anonymity

So... my first born has CF- we found out when just a few weeks old. We have held off on TTC #2 until old enough to manage some treatments independently.

The plan has always been to TTC the old fashioned way with the view to have an early CVS and terminate if affected by CF. The longer it’s taking to conceive the more the implications of an affected pregnancy are having on me- we have only been trying 4 months but the thought of going through all this to then be back at square one terrifies me- I feel like I’m getting too old Hmm anyway- not particularly looking for advice as I know there are a hundred and one opinions relating to termination of pregnancy however I just needed to offload. Thanks for reading Smile

Is your first child very unwell? Treatments and management of CF are improving all the time. Life expectancy is increasing. You have a 1 in 4 chance of each baby being affected, so a 3 in 4 chance it won't be...

Not very unwell no but still only young. I know how far the medicine has come but I also know I couldn’t bring another child into the world to suffer, tht Plus although treatments aren’t improving we are still in a battle (3 years!!) to get access to a drug that could reduce the effects of cf on my child. The odds are in my favour, I appreciate that- I just keep having these moments of panic where all I can see is a cf positive cvs when the time does come.

Are you in any CF support groups/forums? It might be worth seeking them out and chatting to people in your position who know exactly how it feels.
