Hi All,

My fiancé and i are trying for our first baby so I am new to all this. I came off the pill late January so this is our 5th cycle of trying. It sounds silly now but I honestly through this falling pregnant thing would be quicker than it is...you spend your whole teenage years being terrified of falling pregnant then when you want to its not that simple :)

My AF is due on 30th July so I am currently in my TWW...would love to speak anyone also waiting :)

Do you girls pay much attention to symptoms?

Tasha x

You are spot on. I always thought it would be so easy but it's not! I'm just starting my 11th cycle and so bored with it now! We went to the dr last week so have some blood tests coming up (I may have to have some investigations for endo).

You'll get there but I feel your frustration!

NL1986 · 25/06/2019 15:18

@showmethegin I can imagine you are each month just gets that much more deflating. Great that you have taken the next step and spoken with the Dr now though...must be a relief to be taking control over the situation - keeping my fingers crossed that they come back with some positive new for you ASAP. x

I feel your pain! I came on Monday and now in cycle 3 and I'm already getting impatient. I fell pregnant two years ago which sadly ended in a miscarriage but it only took 2 months to conceive which was a lovely surprise as the docs have said it may take longer than average for me!

Hope we all get the results we're hoping for ASAP!

Are any of you taking fertility supplements?

NL1986 · 26/06/2019 10:55

@madaleinerw so sorry to hear you suffered a miscarriage - definitely keeping everything crossed that we all get a positive result this month!

I am taking a normal multi-vitamin plus folic acid and B12 (I'm a vegetarian so taking additional B vitamins) You?

Madaleinerw · 26/06/2019 19:10

Thank you, it was toughest experience I've ever had to go through.

Ah I hope so! Trying to be positive isn't easy is it!

I'm taking Viridian Fertility for woman which is what I was taking last time, I recommend it although they smell and taste awful and then also a multi vitamin. I'm vegan so similar to you :)

NL1986 · 26/06/2019 19:53

Yes it is really hard...I really wanted to be chilled about the whole thing when we started trying and not do the whole ovulation testing/being obsessed with dates but that last about 2 months lol. Infind the waiting the hardest bit as I go into each month feeling positive and in control but the disappointment when AF starts is just the worst.

Thanks for the tip...will check them out as my current multi-vit is running out. How do you find being a vegan with this whole conception thing? Are you trying to eat more of certain foods? Ive been eating lots of lentils to try and up my protein.

Madaleinerw · 26/06/2019 23:16

@NL1986 Same! I didn't want to do any of that but my cycles are irregular so I kind of thought perhaps it was best to. I must admit I have found it really interesting though! I've learnt more about my body than I ever have before! I'm exactly the same. As soon as I start to feel the AF symptoms I begin to get frustrated and annoyed. I'm quite good at not symptom spotting because I know they are the same as AF!

Yeh the fertility ones were recommended by my doctor and have everything we need to get us ready for pregnancy :) I am not sure which multi-vit I am taking. I think it's just the vegan one from Holland and Barrett. So I've been vegan 4 years so I now have a good knowledge and understanding of where I can get enough protein and certain vitamins from so I find it absolutely fine. My blood tests always come back okay so I am not worried but I want to make sure I keep on top of my protein and iron intake!

NL1986 · 27/06/2019 08:46

Yea it is really interesting...I didn’t realise how much I didn’t know about my own body until I started reading up on everything. I’m the last of all my girl friends to have a baby so thought I was clued up from what they all talk about but it’s mad how much I didn’t know. I actually bought a book (what to expect before you’re expecting) because I was so unaware.

So my AF is due in three days now...can’t stop obsessing about if I can feel period pains or not 🙄 god I hate this wait!

@NL1986 I heard lots about that book! I may have to get it. You must find it difficult when each month AF comes when all your friends have babies :(. I find myself getting awfully jealous and that is just not me!!

Ohhh I really hope AF doesn't show! Are you quite regular and know when you are due on?

showmethegin · 27/06/2019 10:00

I'm vegetarian too! My dr raised her eyebrow when I said that and has ordered additional blood tests. I feel like I'm pretty aware of nutrition, I'm a healthy weight etc but she's made me doubt myself now!! Surely that can't be the reason it's been nearly a year? I'm sure loads of meat eaters have worse diets than us and get pregnant?!

So confusing! Keeping my fingers crossed for you that AF stays away 🤞🏼

showmethegin · 27/06/2019 10:36

I've also got that book. So much to learn! I've found it very useful regarding the tests we are about to start

NL1986 · 27/06/2019 11:01

@Madaleinerw yea I do find it difficult especially as I seem to have the most fertile bunch of friends around who all fall pregnant on their first cycle 😂 it’s so nice having people on here to talk to who are in the same boat. I’m pretty regular maybe a couple of days out sometimes. How about you?

@showmethegin I get that same raised eye brow from my OH 🙄 I have a really healthy diet and I’m sure as long as you get your nutrients it can’t be that holding us back. I do take extra B vitamins to make up for my lack of animal products. Sending lots of luck for the start of your tests! When do you start?

OP posts:
Madaleinerw · 27/06/2019 16:49

@NL1986 I know right! My friends all seem to be super fertile! Two of them even conceiving whilst on the pill! Ah ok. I used to be really irregular where I'd have one cycle 35 days the the next 48 then back down to 29 but they seem to have gotten a lot better and average around 31-35 days :).

@showmethegin I also get the raised eyebrow and concerning looks. Personally I don't think eating meat makes a difference in the slightest. Plenty of people conceive as non meat eaters. As long as you know you're eating enough and eating the right foods then there is nothing more you can do :). Good luck with all the tests! Stay positive, you'll get there!

NL1986 · 28/06/2019 10:57

Morning Girls,

How are you all today? I am pretty sure I feel early AF symptoms today which has bummed me out a bit :(

Just the thought of another whole month of this rollercoaster has not put me in the best mood. At least its Friday though! Keeping my fingers crossed its a lucky month for you.

Madaleinerw · 29/06/2019 00:17

Hey! @NL1986 Really hope AF doesn't show. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! I am with you on the thoughts of another rollercoaster month! As much as I enjoy the trying part, it is still tough to get through the emotional disappointment!

Hoping to try and keep myself distracted from thinking about it this month with lots of stuff planned!

showmethegin · 06/07/2019 11:00

Hi @NL1986 and @Madaleinerw How are you ladies doing? Had my blood taken this morning, partner had his Tuesday just gone. Now the nervous wait for the results!

Madaleinerw · 06/07/2019 11:18

Hi @showmethegin

Not feeling to bad this morning :) I'm away for the weekend so have a good distraction! I can only imagine how nervous you are but at least soon hopefully you'll be able to be more clued about why you're finding it hard ttc! I think not knowing why and just being in limbo doesn't help! Hopefully it's all 'fixable' and nothing to serious for you. Any plans this weekend?

showmethegin · 06/07/2019 11:23

Ah lovely! Hope you're somewhere nice! Yeah it's the not knowing that was starting to get to me! At least I'll have more info on how to move forward. Off to a nice local festival with family today to take my mind off it. Hope you have a fab weekend!

NL1986 · 06/07/2019 12:39

@showmethegin that is definitely a positive step...must feel nice to be finally taking charge and doing something to help TTC. Fingers crossed it comes back with some useful info...my sister took a while to conceive her first and it was just down to a vitamin D deficiency!

@Madaleinerw have a fab weekend away! Nothing makes time fly like being in a different place.

We are busy in the house today! going for dinner with friends tonight, AF is finish do feeling back on the positive and looking forward to a fresh cycle 😊
