Is my cycle too short? Why is it so short?

Been TTC for so long now and wondering if this is. affecting things?

Not much help but... Has it always been this short? After I miscarried my cycle went to 23 days for a few months but it's slowly crept back up to around 26 days now, but I do ovulate really early still x

queenqueenqueen · 25/06/2019 13:58

I had a MC in September... Always been around 25 days tbh

I think the thing affecting fertility with shorter cycles is the amount of time after ovulation. I also have 23-24 day cycles and sometimes as short as 21 but ovulate on cd 7-10 so have 14 days between ovulating and getting my period, same as someone on an average 28 day cycle. And got pregnant 1st month with both DC. Good luck!

I have v short cycles. (21/22 days) Found it really quick to conceive once I realised I needed to dtd as soon as af had finished. Never properly tested for ovulation just got on with dtd at least every other day...

queenqueenqueen · 25/06/2019 14:16

Thanks, will give that a go. Just feeling really fed up at the mo 😔

I have a 23 day cycle and a 9/10 day luteal phase and have conceived 3 times.

queenqueenqueen · 25/06/2019 15:38

@Treaclepie19 that's good to know. Did you ever MC?

I miscarried my first pregnancy. Then I had my first son. 2nd son was very poorly and we had a termination for medical reasons but that's not down to my cycles.

queenqueenqueen · 01/07/2019 17:08

Really want this to be my month, but just feel like my cycle being so short is what is stopping things ☹️

I'm sorry for your loss @queenqueenqueen

My cycles are shorter than average, between 24-25 days. I did conceive in January after 16 months ttc. Unfortunately this ended in mmc. My cycles since have been a couple of days shorter.

Do you know when you ovulate? I'm around cd11-13. I track my cervical mucus and that's a pretty good indicator of ovulation for me.

I really hope you get some happy news soon xx

VenusStarr · 01/07/2019 18:58

Ps, my sister's cycles are even shorter, 21 days. She ovulates around cd 9/10 and has 2 children, no issues conceiving for her.

zenlife · 01/07/2019 19:05

I don't think short cycles are a problem if the luteal phase is the correct length? As far as I am aware ... xx

queenqueenqueen · 01/07/2019 19:34

No not too sure when I ovulate which is crap 😔 struggled to get positive on opks but I know they arent always great so stopped using them as it was stressing me out, I get CM and DTD the but been doing that for 6 months + and nothing

zenlife · 01/07/2019 19:35

Why don't you start temping? It's helped me learn sooo much about my cycle I think it's really helpful (provided you can take it at a similar time each morning) xx

queenqueenqueen · 01/07/2019 19:51

@zenlife what thermometer do you use? app etc?

OP posts:
zenlife · 01/07/2019 20:19

I use both fertility friend and clue. And I got a basal body temperature thermometer off amazon it was only £5

Hi OP I had a 23 day cycle and I conceived 8 times unfortunately I only carried 4 to term. On my last I had my tubes tied and since then my cycle is a bit all over the place still 2 years later. Has been 25 - 26 days but last time it was 20 days Shock hoping that's not going to be a regular thing.
You don't say what age you are if your over 35 and trying for 6 months they reccomend you visit your gp, if under 35 they say go after a year.
Hope that helps, best of luck

dragonmummy17 · 02/07/2019 07:17

@queenqueenqueen I have a short cycle currently 21/22 days. I have a DS but 14 months into ttc #2
I use cb digital opks on the occasional cycle but cheaper opks don't work for me. I'm trying temping for the first time this month. Also currently being referred to the fertility clinic.
I think for us the biggest issue with a short cycle is the lack of time between af finishing and ovulating... you've got to dtd as soon as af finishes
