BFP but period cramp - I don’t understand

Help!!!

I’ve been trying ttc for 16 months and today I finally got a faint BFP on a first response test. However I also have the normal cramping I get for up two two weeks before period is due.

My cycle varies from 28-32 days so I’m due my period anytime from Sunday onwards so I know a faint positive is possible at this stage.

However I feel I can’t believe it as the cramp I have is 100% the same as the cramp I get every month at this exact time.

Can anyone explain it??

Thank you

Loads of cramping happens in early pregnancy as everything stretches. Unless it's really painful or you're bleeding, I wouldn't worry.

Good luck!

Exactly that op, there’s tons of cramping involved in early pregnancy as everything is stretching and implanting. Unless there is acute pain and blood, then I’d try not to worry. Congratulations x

Aw thank you girls. I’m just finding it so hard to believe as when I consult Dr Google it does say cramping is normal but surely as this is the exact normal cramping I get that must mean AF is just on her way?

I have many many dc and have always had usual period cramp until at least 6 weeks pregnant. Never had a bleed /spotting just the cramps.

I always get cramping before AF is due and the month I got my BFP I told DH that it wasn't our month because I got that cramp. It was actually worse than usual and lasted longer. 3 days later I got a very clear BFP and the cramping lasted another 2 weeks. Congratulations, I hope everything goes well for you.

I got normal pre-period cramps with DC1. It lasted until 5-6 weeks.

I had this, even went out and bought some feminax and codeine. AF never showed, instead I got a BFP and the cramping continued for a couple of weeks.

Hiya, for me the first seven weeks of pregnancy felt exactly like the build up to my period--cramping, lots of discharge and feeling vaguely nauseous (I never had any morning sickness so it was just the same feeling as before AF). Now 19 weeks pregnant but I wish I'd known cramping was normal - would saved lots of stress and anxious loo runs.

I'm currently 6w pregnant and keeping everything crossed still, early days and was TTC for over a year.. But I had sharp shooting pains in the first couple of weeks, I almost thought it was period cramps but felt just slightly different, sharper and more central.

My last BFP after months and months of TTC ended when my P arrived 4 says late, think it's what's known as a chemical.? But I did have painful cramps then.

I have everything crossed for you!!
