High FSH at cd3 bloods

Hi all,

Looking for any stories, positive or negative. After being told by my useless GP that my bloods were all fine, I got a print out of them only to see that my FSH is 18.1 on cd3. I'm 40. I had a CP last month (the month that I had cd3 tests) and my 21 day progesterone test (done the cycle after CP) was good at 41. I know I'm ovulating but feel like now I am never going to get pregnant. Feel really miserable. Has anyone had this level and had a sticky bean?

I should add that all the other bloods on cd3 were perfect. Should I get retested? Is it worth it?

I wouldn't feel hopeless at all: keep trying! If you recently had a CP then you definitely CAN get pregnant. Your ovarian reserve is not the be all and end all and you can still get pregnant with a low one. My AFC is on the low side for my age but didn't cause me any problems.

I read a book called The Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant which - if you ignore the super annoying tone - has a very handy chapter on age and declining fertility. Basically: don't panic!

Good luck xxx

Thanks @BaweB I know I shouldn't feel so low but I just can't help it. I'll have a look for that book. X

I am really not saying don't feel low - that's totally natural. But just that it probably isn't as bad as it seems now x

Hi, I also had a high FSH reading when I was 40, the GP said it was normal but when I asked for the figures afterwards it was 18.4, the following month I started accupuncture & herbs, then the following month I had a bfp. Sadly ended at 10 week, but it showed that I could get pregnant. I started the TCM again once recovered and the following month had another bfp, which ended pretty quickly. That month I was already booked in for another cd3 test, so went through with it still, and it came back at 10.2. This was by now nearly a year after the first high one. Anyway I think my message here is, you can do something to help it. TCM has been amazing, and although I mc'd twice, I loom at it that I did get 2 bfp's. Still hopeful at now 42 that the next one may be a good egg.
Don't stress about FSH levels. Good luck.
