Continuous Spotting

Hi All,

I'm 11dpo today, AF due tomorrow but I've been spotting continuously since 4dpo. I never spot between periods. Started as brown spotting which lasted 3 days then had a light bleed for 2 days before returning to brown spotting. Today it's so light it's barely there but this is so out of the ordinary for me. I usually spot brown 1 day before AF, AF lasts 3/4 days (heavyish) and then end with a further 1/2 days of spotting.

This is our 1st month TTC and the first time ever I've experienced this. I've also had twinges, headaches, etc.

Has anyone else experienced the same? X

Have you come off any contraception? I finished taking the pill and had 2 normal periods on 28 day cycles, each period since then I’ve started spotting 3 days before my period and the last period I have was really light in general. I assume my hormones are all over the place!

Thanks for your response @beclaboo.

No I stopped taking the pill over 10 years ago. The only form on contraception I've used since then is condoms. I have PCOS but have had regular periods for the past 6 years and they always follow the same pattern... Until now?! I thought at first it may have been implantion bleeding as it started a week before AF was due but it seems to be going on too long.

I tested this morning but got a BFN. Will test again tomorrow when AF is due but not holding my breath x

@xELENx that’s really strange then! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Although I do feel our bodies love to play random mind games with us in these times 🙈

Thanks @beclaboo fingers crossed 🤞 I've been having loads of weird symptoms over the past week to - lightheadedness, cramps, Headaches, etc. All things I never experience with AF so hoping it's a positive sign and I'm not just coming down with the lurgy 🙈

Well, I tested yesterday with a FRER (not FMU) and again this morning with a One Step dip test and both were BFNs. I am now 14dpo (I think) and no sign of AF which was due yesterday. At this point, I'm assuming the spotting/light bleed I had was some kind of early/weird period. I should probably accept that I'm out this month as although I am still experiencing symptoms (pains, dizziness, etc.) I don't have any CM which, from what I've read, means I am pre/post period.

That said, I can't help but hold a little hope as these symptoms and the early 'period' are so out of character for me. I will do one more test with a FRER tomorrow and then give up hope for this month and replenish my test stock for next month 🙈 x

Could you of ovulated slightly later? X

xELENx · 16/06/2019 10:44

Hi @Sunflower2019 it is possible. I have PCOS so not sure when (or even if) I ovulate. However, I've had regular 34-36 day cycles for the past 6 years and I have never come on early. Also, this period wasn't like the norm, it was much shorter and lighter with far more brown spotting than usual. It may just be that I'm focusing so much on it that I've brought it on (if that's even possible) x
