TTC in August Looking for a BFP

Hi,
Thought I'd start a thread for those of us looking for a BFP in August. I'm ttc #2. Have a DS of 3.3. I'm current on CD15 - OD day - with a bit of luck. Have been bd'ing like mad over my fertile days and will continue to do so for a few more days yet. Then it will just be the 2ww. Anyone else in situation?

Sorry about your period showing up - how rude to be early like that!!

We're having an all day party type thing here tomorrow. Quite glad I don't have to think of an excuse for not drinking - tho it's very small compensation

Upsidedowncake · 03/08/2007 20:08

Hello newbie here, been lurking for a few days.

Anyone else ever given themselves a phantom pregnancy? Boobs hurt, booze tastes disgusting and I cry at happy and sad things like nobody's business - all symptoms from early pg with ds1.

This has been going on for a week now - My cycle is really messed up: I'm only CD28 on a cycle of 32 but have just come off the pill and think I ovulated at CD7.

I've had three bfns and I reckon now is the time to accept it. Booze still disgusting so can't even drown my sorrows.

tigerschick · 03/08/2007 20:55

Hi Upsidedowncake - Sorry, I'm not able to help with your situation. I just know that, until you get a bfp or your period shows up then anything is still possible Either way, glad you stopped lurking and good luck.

moodymoo · 03/08/2007 21:29

evening all,

Libralady sorry to hear about your af arriving. Look on the brightside though - at least you are 4 days closer to trying again. Hope you have a great night 2moro - think we are going to have a bbq cos (and I know this sounds bizzare) but dh's ex in-laws are coming over for the evening. Fingers crossed that the weather stays nice. Feels and looks like we are going to get a big thunder storm here 2nite.

Hiya Bellie - was wandering where you had got to.Hopefully when you go for your appointment on Monday you will be able to ask them about your lighter bleeding.Just refuse to leave until they listen to you. I did that with mine and he was really nice, explained everything for me.Good luck with the opk's - they do work cos my SIL and a friend at work both got pregnant first time with them - I just don't have too much spare cash at the moment to fork out £20 a month on the good ones. Strangely I am prepared to fork out £20 every 2 months for the clearblue monitor sticks! Anyway if you go on ebay you can usually get hold of the decent opk's loads cheaper than the shops.

Mowmi - hope the tests help. My dh sounds like yours - very laid back. Think I have managed to explain to him this week though how unhelpful "it will happen when it happens" is to a woman who is desperate to have a baby. Hasn't said it since and is willing to try most things I have asked of him to improve our chances.

Upsidedowncake - think most of us on here will have suffered from phantom pregnancy symptoms I have been feeling sick for weeks now though I know it is actually a side effect of my folic acid , I have had bad heartburn last few days but it would be too early for that as only cd16 - probably more to do with the large amounts of fruitjuice am drinking, boobs hurt but then discovered it was just a midgy bite, tiredness (which I had really bad last time) but have just returned to work after 5 months so of course am going to be tired (and daily bd'ing can take it out of you) - but that little voice of hope is sat deep down inside saying maybe just maybe.... Keep your chin up

Upsidedowncake · 03/08/2007 21:43

Thanks Tigerschick. Here's to lovely babbies for all of us whenever it's right for them to come.

toytownmum · 03/08/2007 21:50

scorpio1 · 04/08/2007 17:17

hi, im back!!!!

Monkeybar · 04/08/2007 21:29

Hi Ladies, Please can I join you? I'm on my 2 week wait for this month ttc dc2 (ds just turned 2 years). Have been trying since the start of the year and have been quite obsessive on the pg testing!
Have just been offered a new job, going from ft to 2 days a week and that means that getting a BFP this month would not be as great as it should be! Fingers crossed, I want the baby more than the job, it has to be said!

moodymoo · 04/08/2007 21:51

Hiya Monkeybar, I am on my 2ww now as well -just taking me awhile to accept that I am - seems such a long wait. Best way not to get obsessive about pg testing is not to hve them in the house. I have one c/b digital one but cos it was expensive wont use it unless I am certain I am pg. i.e a week late. It took me 10 months to get pg last time and found it happened the month I decided to relax about it all. Anyway am trying to be relaxed this time round but not doing a great job of it - am so stressed out at the prospect of it taking so long to get pg again.
Don't let this stop you taking the job - we can't live our lives not doing things just in case this month might be a BFP for us. It will just make the whole thing seem even longer.
Oh my god think I am turning into one of those horrible people who tells you it will happen when it happens etc or maybe I have been listening to my dh too much

AussieSim · 05/08/2007 04:44

Hi Guys
Hello to all the newbies. I am reporting back in from my adventure to the Acupuncturist and Naturopath. The Acupuncturist said that my organs are very tense and took my chinese pulses and inserted needles. Can't fall pregnant when organs are tense apparently.

Then I went straight into the Naturopath. She says I am exhausted and running on adrenalin. I am Magnesium deficient (but apparently so are 2 thirds of the population( but apparently this can interfere with fertility and also increase chances of miscarriage. She also gave me Chaste Berry/Chast Tree supplements which is supposed to even out the hormones to assist fertility and a combination Evening Primrose Oil/Fish Oil, of course I got a Folate with B Vitamin supplement and some other concoction she made up herself which had a few things to help my fertility and a few things to help me relax. Up shot was that being exhausted and stressed can really get in the way of falling pregnant. I don't think any of this will have much of an impact in the short term but at least I feel I am doing something. She was pretty positive given that I am trying for no. 3 and that my cycle is quite regular etc. I am CD 16 so keeping my DH busy, but he is off on business tomorrow for 3 days . I have been using OPK's but no dark line, although I did miss testing for days 14 and 15 so I might have missed it. Anyway, off to take a nap while my ds's are down.

Sorry for such a long post, but I thought some details might help others.

Best of Luck! Sim

tigerschick · 05/08/2007 09:49

Morning all

Took my last progesterone tablet today so am now waiting for my period to start then I can start taking the clomid to make me ovulate. Getting quite excited which is a bad thing! Must keep myself in check - even with the drugs there is little chance of me getting pg this month - if I do then, great, if not I don't want to be devastated.

Hope everyone is well and happy and enjoying the sunshine while it lasts

Scorpio - what news? Wasn't your period due while you were away? Glad you made it back safely

Good luck Tigerchick and hope the clomid doesn't make you feel too awful.

Hi Monkeybar. It's so hard to decide when is the right time to try, isn't it? And job versus dc2 is a toughie. Why have you gone from ft to 2 days a week? Is it because the job is better or to spend more time with dc1? I think the maternity leave issue kicks in during week 16.

Moodymoo - good point about not having the tests in the house. Am still suffering my pregnancy 'symptoms' but fortunately Boots is closed and I used up my stash in my frenzy of bfns last week.

Two days till my period is due. What does af stand for??

tigerschick · 05/08/2007 18:30

AF stands for Aunt Flo. I'm not a fan of the term, which is why I just say 'period'. On the ttc in June thread (i think) we had a short-lived ban on both 'af' and 'bd' as we decided we preferred 'period' and 'sex'!

Thanks for you kind words. I'm not really looking forward to taking the tablets as most people I've heard of who have taken them go loopy but it's a means to an end

Monkeybar - you just have to go with what feels right at the time and hope for the best - good luck.

Moodymoo - I don't keep tests in the house for that very reason! I'm also picky about where I buy them - I like to get them from Asda as they are really cheep but I don't like sending them down the conveyor with my frozen peas, so I have to find an Asda with a pharmacy counter!

Hope everyone else is well and happy this evening

moodymoo · 05/08/2007 22:30

Evening all

Tigerschick - I used to get the asda ones as my cheap option and then when I got my positive I made dh go and buy the digital cb one cos i wanted to see it in writing. At my Asda they have those self checkouts which are great when buying that kind of stuff.
I am now Cd18 so only got 10 long days to go before I get to see a BFN. AM trying so hard not to think about it as I can't cope with getting my hopes up. Have convinced myself it isn't going to happen for months and am too stressed about it all. DH thinks I have lost the plot completly - when he begged for a night off the other night I was so upset ended up not speaking to each other all night - that is not good and I clearly need to give myself a break.
Got to agree that I don't like AF would much prefer 'proper' words but kinda like the BD. Took me ages to figure out all the codes when first came on here - cos half of them aren't on that list.
Fingers crossed that your period arrives soon so that you can get the clomid started.
Aussiesim - Don't think they realise how difficult it can be to relax and stop stressing but I agree that it usually is what we need to do - I know that when I got pg it was in the month that I thought sod it, it's never going to happen and i'm not going to waste anymore time waiting for it, drank a bottle or two of wine, and hey presto I got pg. I tried reiki a few weeks ago and that helped relax me a little. haven't really spoke about it to anyone though as my family all see it as rubbish.
Upsidedown cake - any more BFN frenzys and you will be keeping boots in business single handed . Sorry to hear you are still feeling pg - it's crap isn't it.
x

AussieSim · 06/08/2007 04:04

Hi Anniemac
I am in Sydney so details of my naturopath probably not too useful, but I am sure you could find some locally. The supplements are quite exxy but I get some money back on the consultation fee from my medical fund.

I have got buckley's chance of being pregnant this month now that DH has headed off on a 3 day business trip and I was too annoyed with him last night to have sex - there I said it sex sex sex sex. I will test on the 17th. I didn't know for ages what bd was and assumed it had somehting to do with bonking!

tigerschick · 06/08/2007 07:46

lol aussiesim - I couldn't think of anything except 'breeding' which I didn't think it could be as that is a derogatory term that people who don't want children call us lot that do - 'the breeders' I much prefer 'sex' - in more ways than one

scorpio1 · 06/08/2007 10:38

hi

im cd32 today, period due anytime. i have sore boobs-classic pmt sign for me, im afraid. oh well, here we go again!

have decided to go back to butlins with df's at xmas, with kiddies again. they will love it and my dp is like a big kid at xmas!

how is everyone? ladylush, lissie, tiger?

anyone else??sorry, had a sort of mini break and dont recognise many people anymore!

scorpio1 · 06/08/2007 11:27

weird pondering qusetion alert :

does anyone ever get scared at the thought of doing a HPT?

my period is due wednesday ish, and me and dp have agreed to test on the weekend if it still hasnt come.

i just dont want to though.cant face it being neg. anyone else? i do really want to be pg.

tigerschick · 06/08/2007 11:34

Hi scorpio. Before I was pg with dd I did sooooo many tests and got sooooo many BFNs that I became desensitised. I used to do them when I hadn't had a period for a monthor two, just to be on the safe side, but I never expected to get a BFP. I guess that is why, when I did get a BFP, I was so shocked!! I think it will be different this time. It's the first time that we will be timing things and I'll know that there is a chance that I'll get a BFP - so I think I will be a lot more nervous.

How you doing in general?

scorpio1 · 06/08/2007 11:37

in general, im fine, almost great actually !

me and dp went out together last night-only for a few hours but we felt so close, and have decided to make more of an effort to do stuff together.

i also have passed my first year of uni with an overall grade average of a B [swot] even though i have been ill, so have dcs-i still managed it!

but today i have to cook for the first time in 8 days! have been having time off

holiday was fab, def recharged me. we are popping back at xmas with df's. dss mum has been kicking up a bit, but im just ignoring her. you know how it is!

tigerschick · 06/08/2007 11:43

I know what you mean about cooking - when we were on holiday my mum did all the prep and we had bbq every night so dh and dad did all the cooking

I've got to go to Doncaster a week on Friday then to Chesterfield the next day. Dh suggested that I just stay in Chesterfield on Friday night instead of coming all the way home. I told him no way coz it's our wedding anniversary. He said it wasn't a problem and he was thinking more of me doing all that driving and dd being in the car for hours on end. But I think that you are right - you've got to make the time and effort for eachother. If you start letting things slip then who knows where you end up. We were planning to go out just the 2 of us - It'd be the first time we've been out for a meal, just the 2 of us, in ... um ... about 5 years

Glad you had a good night out.
