TTC in August Looking for a BFP

Hi,
Thought I'd start a thread for those of us looking for a BFP in August. I'm ttc #2. Have a DS of 3.3. I'm current on CD15 - OD day - with a bit of luck. Have been bd'ing like mad over my fertile days and will continue to do so for a few more days yet. Then it will just be the 2ww. Anyone else in situation?

Hi guys
Best of luck to us all this month!

I am TTC no.3 38yo (craddle snatching a 37yo). I took nearly 2 years to fall with DS1 (4.5) and 8months with DS2 (2) and have been off contraception/breastfeeding for 12months. I got so disappointed with my BFN's the last 2 months that I am worried it will not be good for my peace of mind to keep TTCing for too much longer. Today is CD 13. I have been testing for my LH surge - yesterday was nothing, today was a faint line which is encouraging, at least it looks like I am OVing. I have an appointment with an acupuncturist on Saturday to see if he can improve my chances.

Crossing my fingers for a whole heap of BFP's on this thread this month.

KnitterInTheNW · 02/08/2007 11:26

Morning!

Doc is sending sample off so will know 'official' result on monday, but she said that after 3 +ive home tests (yes I did another this morning just to prove to myself that I'm not imagining it all and the huge sore boobs, it's pretty certain that it's all systems go!

Got to go & have a blood test now (am terrified, I've seen a psychologist and a hypnotherapist because of the freaking out I do if they go near my arm to take blood, they say it's because it used to take 4 adults to hold me down to take blood when I was 3, and now I can JUST ABOUT cope with them taking it from the back of my hand.) and she's referring me to the diabetic antenatal clinic when the pg results come back on monday.

I hate being diabetic, it just complicates EVERYTHING.

moodymoo · 02/08/2007 11:26

Hi all.

Aussiesim - good luck with peeing on the sticks. Have heard a lot of good stuff about acupuncture, they say that reflexology is really good as well (having my feet played with sounds much nicer than having needles stuck in me). You will have to let us know how it goes.

LittleSquirt - am so pleased I didn't see that thread when it was going on - would have been hooked and I know that my dh would have been going mad at me for spending even more time on here. Lets hope there is more BFP's to be heard of this month.

LibraLady - Any news? Are you riding the rollercoasters or left holding the bags? Fingers crossed you got a BFP.

Tigerschick - think dh is starting to realise how much making up he has to do ... knows exactly what he needs to do to make it up to me. Think he is starting to look a little tired now though..... As I am now CD15 there is no hope of him having a rest just yet . Having this power over him has got to be the best present yet

Aquababe - are you feeling any better today - have a great holiday and come tell us all aboyt it when you get back - all refreshed and ready to start again.

Off to find my grapefruit juice now x

moodymoo · 02/08/2007 11:32

Knitter
Calm down!! Just think of what all those needles are going to result in - one cute little bundle of joy. Do a Jordan and ask for some magic cream before they put the needle in.
You must be so happy right now - and am sure your dh is liking the idea of huge boobs - just wait till he realises that all he can do is look!

Good luck with all the tests x

boozle · 02/08/2007 11:34

Brilliant, just brilliant Knitter!

Best of luck for the blood test and at the diabetes clinic. I had pregnancy-induced diabetes the first time around (controlled by diet not insulin). It cleared up after the birth (thank goodness) but did make things a bit more complicated. The upside though was that it meant lots of extra-special care, attention and monitoring, which made me feel as though I had lots of support.

Congratulations again!

TheBlonde1 · 02/08/2007 11:53

Hi Guys...just wondering if I can join you.I've been lurking for a few weeks now and can't believe that there are so many people going through the same as me...and you are all so supportive.I am 32 and DP is 39 and we've been ttc since the beginning of January.Am currently on CD16 (or2DPO)and think I've pulled a muscle with all the frantic BDing!!!....am sitting here being tearful and feeling sorry for myself because like all of you I want a BFP so badly...and(not that I'm being negative)am waiting for the postie to deliver a load of OPK's for if AF arrives.
Sorry to drone on to you all.

moodymoo · 02/08/2007 12:14

Hiya Theblonde1,
Stop lurking and join in - I was the same last month in the July thread.

I 2 am bd'ing like mad - more than usual cos am using it as dh's punishment for forgetting my b'day Not much of a punishment I know but gets me what I want.
I know the waiting is so hard - it took me 10 months of bd'ing last time but looking back I really didn't have a clue about fertile days etc for the first 8 months. It was only when I took some control of it all that I got anywhere. There wasn't a happy ending for my pregnancy so am now back to ttc and feel so desperate to be get pg. Just get so frustrated with it all. Can't face the thought of months of trying - but am trying to stay calm and relaxed about it. Am sure you will find coming on here will help you though - somewhere that you can meet like minded people who aren't going to tell you all the usual crap - 'your still young' 'plenty of time ' it's just not your time' etc etc

Don't forget there is a postal strike today.

moodymoo · 02/08/2007 12:17

Whoops
forgot to post what I had come onto say - think I gotta to take back what I said about the OPK's - just used my last one and guess what - yep said I am now OV'ing. Typical - so what do I do - do I go out and buy a new box and continue testing over next few days or do I just leave it and bd even more??
Still hate them though!!!

TheBlonde1 · 02/08/2007 12:23

bummer!!!did'nt know about postal strike....well I suppose I'm in the 2ww part now anyway. This is the first month of using an opk and you'd think I'd won the lottery when the smiley face showed up!!!I was crying to my DP last night and bless him, he said his aunt waited 10 years and had tried everything but when she gave up hope,it happened!....at this point I cried hysterically and pointed out that I'm frustrated after 8 months so 10 years filled me with dread! It's weird that you just assume it will happen straight away don't you(when I look back at the 2 times I missed my pill I was frantic too!!)
About your birthday present, I think I'd prefer my DH naked with a bow on to any other present too!!

TheBlonde1 · 02/08/2007 12:25

To reply to your 2nd Moodymoo, am still BDing lots too(and was secretly going to use the opk if it came today!)Kind of a smiley face high was needed!

moodymoo · 02/08/2007 12:57

It's not fair - I want the opk's that give you smiley faces - I just got a line.

Have you thought of speaking to your GP about ttc? It might just set your mind at rest especially if you tell them how upset it is making you.

Looks like we are at the same CD point so you are not alone in your 2ww - fingers and toes crossed for a BFP. I am going to spend some time getting myself prepared for next month as plan to do track my bbt and should be using my clearblue monitor if it ever
arrives - bloody postal strike!!

TheBlonde1 · 02/08/2007 13:04

Clearblue digital have the faces-exactly like this actually but they are expensive, although they do save you from deiphering if there is a line present or not.
I thought about talking to my GP but everywhere seems to say that they don't entertain it unless you've been trying for a year
Fingers crossed for you too and a BFP...you never know,we could be on an expecting thread at the same time

tigerschick · 02/08/2007 13:04

Postal strike? What postal strike? I think our postie is happy with his lot - been on 2 Carribean cruises this year already!!!

Hi theblonde1 - Good luck for this month

TheBlonde1 · 02/08/2007 13:08

Thanks Tigerschick
Think I'll change jobs and be a postie if they can afford 2 cruises a year!

moodymoo · 02/08/2007 14:04

TheBlonde 1 - that explains it all - am too tight to fork out £20 for a clearblue opk so am using cheap ones. Think I will just have to resort to drawing my own smiley faces on them.
Know what you mean about the docs but there would be no harm in asking - worst they could do is tell you to come back in a few months, best they could do is put your mind at rest.
Hi tigerschick - hoe you doing today?

aquababe · 02/08/2007 16:36

Thanks for asking moody
Managed to convice myself that its a good thing I'm not pregnant on holiday I hate flying at the best of times. and at least the fact that my periods come early mean cramps have so I won't be annoying and annoyed on the plane.
found out today we missed some fees on our mortgage changing so have had to pay a thousand pounds of our holiday spending money on that so that's taken my mind of not being pregnant.
Think we've just about worked it out but am bit pissed off with myself & dh for not spotting it sooner

moodymoo · 02/08/2007 17:13

Poor you aquababe - £1000 - that's just ridiculous!! Try not to worry about it too much now - neither of you can change whats happened and the longer you ponder the more pissed off you are going to get. You don't want to ruin your holiday thinking about it.
Am glad you have managed to turn your af arriving into a positive - hope I will be able to do the same at the end of my 2ww.

Have fun x

aquababe · 02/08/2007 17:29

redemption interest what is that?
I hate thinking about money so don't most of the time
probably why we messed up
Anyway I'm supposed to be packing

libralady · 02/08/2007 20:43

Hi all,

Just thought I'd check in. Did a test this morning and got a BFN . So went to Paultons Park and thought what the 'eck and went on most rides that were suitable for my 3yo. Even though they are for children, adults can ride with the smaller ones and there are signs on most of them stating that they are unsuitable for those with back or spinal injuries or pregnant women.
Still went on them even though I'm recovering from spinal surgery I had on 31st May. Had two slipped discs and horrendous sciatica all of which stems from my first pregnancy.
Finally went private in January and saw a spinal surgeon. Had 2 epidurals which did nothing so have just had a discetomy and spinal spacers put between my discs to prevent them from trapping my sciatic nerve.
WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING TRYING TO GET PREGNANT AGAIN!!!!!
Signed off sick for a further month until I return to work 'to fully recover'. I feel such a fraud as I feel I can go back now as I am soooo improved compared to what I was. Apparently the whole healing process can take upto 18 months. Spoke to my consultant who said he can't say it won't happen again if I get pregnant but has told me to go ahead and ttc conceive anyway.
Sorry if I've been rambling..............
Hope everyone else is OK. Just waiting for af to show up on Monday now.

boozle · 02/08/2007 20:48

aquababe - glad you are feeling more positive.

I understand redemption interest to be a charge for paying a loan back early, usually calculated as a certain percentage of the amount paid back.

Happy hols!

moodymoo · 02/08/2007 21:49

Libralady
Sorry about the BFN but as always it isn't over till it's over and it may be a little early to test yet anyway.
Your back problems sound painful! Am sure you wont have done any harm to your back though if you just went on the 'little' rides. It is amazing what damage pregnancy can do to your body!! As soon as I got pg I started getting pains in my left leg which got so bad on a night that I could only sleep on my right side, thought it would go after but it hasn't any doc says it is a nerve thing that takes ages to go. Wouldn't mind so much if I had something to show for it .
Don't wish your time off work away - I went back yesterday after 5 months off sick and it feels like I was never away. Make a list of all the things you want to do before you go back and you will soon find your time flys by. Think of all the time you can spend with you LO.And if the sun ever comes back you could just spend time perfecting your tan

mowmi · 02/08/2007 22:44

hi all, sorry I'm a big fat newie! been ttc for about a year, started using an opk about 3 months ago but it hasn't predicted any sign of ovulation (i'm 34) inital blood test results came back to show I'm not ovulating but they were taken on the wrong day.... my cycle is c. 38-42 days long and they took the blood on day 21 so I've just had to have it done again! DH is lovely but isn't much use "it'll happen when it happens!" Doc isn't much use either but at least they're doing the tests! any advice, reassurance etc... greatly received and to be honest very much needed! lots of luck to all those wishing tonight x

Bellie · 03/08/2007 07:57

Hi thought I'd check in this morning as not been on for a couple of days!
Sorry for the BFN libralady - but hope you had fun at the park though! Back sounds painful!

OPK for the first timme this month after 6 months of trying and on day 14 and no smiley face yet ( I like the fact that I don't have to analyse lines but that may change if I have to keep using them month after month as they are v expensive!)

I am going to see my gynae on Monday - had a referral as have had issues since my ectopic which still arn't resolved - from about cd10 i get light bleeding and dull lower back pain which I am sure isn't help ttc, but they keep telling me there is nothing wrong . I know that this ins't right but no-one seems to take it seriously and they are all focusing on my heavy periods - that I can cope with what I can't cope with is not knowing whether the early light bleeding is stopping me concieving!

Bellie · 03/08/2007 07:59

Ooh sorry for the long rant!

And welcome to mowmi! Hope the tests help this month!

libralady · 03/08/2007 13:34

Well that's it, I am officially browned off. AF has arrived 4 days early, so what a waste of time it was doing the pg test yesterday morning. Ironically today is the anniversary of me finding out I was pg with DS. (I'm not sad - I only remember cos I found out on my Nan's birthday) Incidently she's 99 today and we've just come back from the care home to see her.
On the bright side of things, next door have invited us to a BBQ tomorrow night. At least I can now have a few drinks.
