TTC in August Looking for a BFP

Hi,
Thought I'd start a thread for those of us looking for a BFP in August. I'm ttc #2. Have a DS of 3.3. I'm current on CD15 - OD day - with a bit of luck. Have been bd'ing like mad over my fertile days and will continue to do so for a few more days yet. Then it will just be the 2ww. Anyone else in situation?

OP posts:
lissie · 30/07/2007 08:03

tested on fri and got bfn (i get v early bfp's) got more HPTs coming in the post so will test when the postman arrives

Bellie · 30/07/2007 08:48

fingers crossed - hope that you can still get the clomid though....

tigerschick · 30/07/2007 10:21

Hi ladies

Thought I'd better cross over from the July thread as I've got no chance of getting a BFP tomorrow!!

Started taking Provera today. So, in theory, I should get my period in 2 weeks then I can start Clomid and be ttc-ing in earnest!

Lissie - hope you get your Clomid soon. I'm so glad I was given Provera so I don't have to wait for a 'natural' period.

Aquababe - any news?

Good luck everyone else - let this be a very positive month.

lissie · 30/07/2007 10:32

i am not amused

Bellie · 30/07/2007 10:53

Oh lissie ((((((hugs))))))

aquababe · 30/07/2007 11:48

but still between 1 and 6 days till af due

aquababe · 30/07/2007 12:03

that's no fun

ladylush · 30/07/2007 12:13

Hello everyone waiting for first period post missed m/c then all systems go! Sorry about your bfn tigerschick but at least the Provera might sort out your cycle. Good luck for August everybody

moodymoo · 30/07/2007 13:23

hi ladies,

Lissie - that is so rubbish !!!Really feel for you. Keep your chin up, easier said than done I know but you will get there in the end.

Aquababe - sorry for your bfn but like you say may still be a bit early. At least you have done it though and you can relax a little.

Bellie - have you tried adding some orange juice to your grapefruit? I juiced some grapefruit and orange together and it really took the edge off of it. Tasted really nice.

Hi Ladylush, for once I hope your AF arrives soon so that you can get back to ttc.Am I right in thinking you were going for blood tests over in the July thread? if so did they go ok or are you still waiting for results?

Thepuddingchef · 30/07/2007 13:26

Hello ladies, I thought i'd better find the time to post and join this Aug ttc thread. I don't post much...bit more of a lurker. Have had a name change, got bored of being UpsyDaisy and i'm not feeling very upsy at the minute!
Cd1 for me then......
Sorry to read about your problems Lissie, keep hanging on in there...it will happen....although i'm beginning to know how it feels ttc and getting nowhere.....and it's only been 4 months for me!

Bellie · 30/07/2007 13:29

orange and grapefruit will try it tomorrow thanks moodymoo! Or may get my backside off to the shops to get some fresh ones!

Aquababe

ladylush · 30/07/2007 13:30

Hi moody - yes I got referred for basic blood tests by dr but haven't had them yet as the phlebotomy dept is open ridiculously early hours (7-9) but I am going to go tomorrow.

ladylush · 30/07/2007 13:30

Pink grapefruit juice is much better than yellow

ladylush · 30/07/2007 13:31

as in tastier

Bellie · 30/07/2007 13:33

I did wonder about that ladylush - thanks

ladylush · 30/07/2007 13:39

Oh and fresh pink ones are lovely with some brown sugar sprinkled on top.

LittleSquirt · 30/07/2007 14:01

Hi everyone. Well, thought it was time I should come over from the July TTC threads. Nice to see so many of you on here already!
One of my friends mentioned taking Royal Gelee and reckons this contributed to her conceiving really quickly, anyone heard about that? I'm not sure whether it's true or not but I'm game for trying anything so bought some on Saturday and have been taking it since (it's not cheap btw!!). I'm going back to the supermarket to buy grapefruit juice tonight too!!!!

Trying to be patient, I am now 29 days post ERPC and no sign of AF arriving any time soon. Just want her to turn up so I know how long my cycle is and can start counting again!

big hugs to everyone xxxxxxx

moodymoo · 30/07/2007 14:02

Bellie - have u got a juicer?I got one last year and use it all the time - juice just tastes so much nicer. Definatly nicer than the stuff in cartons. Just seems to cost a fortune for all the fruit.

I got a mixture of white and pink so will try the pink one later.

Does it make a difference at what point in your cycle you drink it? I am cd12 now so should be coming upto the ewcm stage any time now so is it too late for me this time?

Ladylush - what kind of hours are they!! Why do they need to be so early. No wander you haven't been for them yet. Hope you do go 2moro and get them done though.

Littlesquirt -am with you on that one - am willing to try anything within reason to improve my changes of getting a BFP. Where doyou get the Royal Gelee stuff and how much was it? Think my dh will tell me off if I spend any more money on ttc this month - just spent £50 quid on a clearblue fertility monitor - haven't told him yet that it's £20 for a pack of the testing sticks, working on a need to know basis and he doesn't need to know yet. Got frowned at for spending £4 on a cheap opk yesterday so am sure he wouldn't be impressed if I spend any more.
My doctor told me that best thing to do was not to drink alcohol (done that), not to smoke (never did anyway) and to have lots of sex (trying our best).

ladylush · 30/07/2007 14:12

I don't know about timing for grapefruit juice but I think you have to drink it leading up to fertile time. I have read something on mnet about not drinking it when you are pregnant but I have never seen anything else that supports that.

LittleSquirt · 30/07/2007 14:17

Moodymoo - I got the royal gelee from Waitrose actually, and the pack was £9.99 for 20 capsules (I think). So as I said, not exaclty cheap. I am sure you must be able to get it from some bigger Boots shops too (but looked in my small boots shop and they didn't have it there).
I am not telling DH how much I am spending on all this stuff (I have OPKs at the ready eventhough I am still waiting for 1st AF after ERPC at the moment and I have quite a few HPTs at home too, even though I won't need them for weeks and weeks) and he's not asking - for the moment at least - so I've not had to lie.

I just need to feel I am doing something to help get an BFP when the time comes to test, so royal gelee and grapefruit juice it is for the time being!

moodymoo · 30/07/2007 14:39

Littlesquirt - that is exactly how I feel. Everyone says it will happen and let nature take its course etc but I just want to know that I am doing everything I can to help it along. They all think I am going mad but I don't care .If it makes me happy why shouldn't I. I see it as I can't complain about it not happening if I aren't doing everything that I can to help myself. I got a thermometer the other week to start checking my temp so that if I do need to go to docs a few months down the line I can say I have done it.
Will keep an eye out for the royal gelee when i am in boots next time.
Have not bought any hpk's - got one from my last pgncy and that's it - wont buy them until I need them but the OPK was harder to resist since it was nice and cheap. worth looking on ebay for stuff though as I got my monitor half price and my thermometer was a 75% cheaper - both of them brand new.
My dh tends to just do what i ask him - moaning a bit that I just don't want him to have any fun (stopped him going in friends hot tub other week cos I didn't want his little swimmers cooked) - would think that all this bd'ing should be enough of a reward for him. Don't think he has realised yet that he is drinking decaff...

LittleSquirt · 30/07/2007 14:56

LOL about the decaf!!!!

My DH doesn't like coffee so quite happy about that. And for the record, wouldn't let him go into a hot tub either until I got another BFP at least! Can't be taking those risks!

I know some people think we are mad but we all feel the same so we must be sane in our own kind of mad way! (I think this sentence alone illustrates that I am indeed mad, never mind!!!)

moodymoo · 30/07/2007 15:53
  • told him that once I get what I want he can have as many hot tubs as he wants - and a nice cold pint to follow.
My BIL checked my freezer the other day to see if I had gone to the extremes of freezing dh undies - now I know I am up for trying all things and dh has gone along with everything but I think that might be a step too far for him! Wander if he would consider a little ice pack in his pockets only joking - not that mad - honest Anyway we are not mad -just slightly obsessive, BFP chasing women, who know what we want. Ohh and I am sick of stupid cheap opk's!!!! Why did I even bother buying it???!!
