Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone on here wore/wears a fitbit while pregnant?
The reason I ask is because of the heart rate function.
I've heard a few things stating an increase in resting heart rate is a sign of early pregnancy, can anyone confirm if this is true or just shed some light on it. It would be greatly appreciated! My resting heart rate has increased by 6beats since Saturday, I'm about 9dpo.
Thanks in advance!

My heart rate increased a few days before I got a positive test, by around 6bpm in fact!

DaniX91 · 04/06/2019 07:39

@EmrysAtticus really?! How many dpo were u when u tested if u don't mind me asking? I keep getting little waves of nausea and I'm feeling really hot this morning but the thing that's making me feel negative is that I have been getting cramps on and off for days. Last night I really thought AF was on the way!

I was 14dpo if I remember correctly (the day AF was due) although it was 4 years ago! I was convinced I was out that month as my temp had dropped and everything. The only thing positive was my increased heart rate. DS is now 3 :)

tisonlymeagain · 04/06/2019 09:12

I've not been consistent in wearing it recently but just checked my app. My resting heart rate was usually around 62. It's now 64bpm which isn't a massive increase and I think it's been that before. I am around 5 weeks pregnant.

MrsH497 · 04/06/2019 10:56

Before I got my bfp my resting heart rate increased in my Fitbit. Sadly MC a couple of weeks ago but I do think there's a link

DaniX91 · 04/06/2019 12:24

@EmrysAtticus @MrsH497 oooh this is all very positive! Did either of u have cramps? Cos that's worrying me a bit, it's the only thing that's making me think AF could arrive!

I can't remember I'm afraid Dani it feels like a lifetime ago Grin

dottydally · 04/06/2019 12:30

@DaniX91 mine was 64-68 before I got my BFP. Rose to 70-72 5 days or so before I tested. Am 16 weeks now and other than a couple of brief dips it's between 70 and 74. I do the same exercise etc as I have done for years so I'm no more/less fit than I was pre pregnancy!

MrsH497 · 04/06/2019 12:47

@DaniX91 yes felt crampy occasionally but not much my only symptom I remember was feeling like I had a cold and boobs a bit sore but I didn't have much. As I say I miscarried with that pregnancy

DaniX91 · 04/06/2019 12:50

@MrsH497 aww I'm really sorry to hear that ❤️

DaniX91 · 04/06/2019 12:52

@dottydally congratulations! I'm planning on testing on Sunday which will make me 14dpo. If I can wait that long!
What do u make of the cramps? Did u have any of that at the beginning?

polkadotpixie · 04/06/2019 13:07

Your RHR raises after ovulation anyway. It would normally drop as AF approaches, like your BBT. If it stays high then it's a good sign

Fingers crossed for you 🤞

dottydally · 04/06/2019 13:17

@DaniX91 I was probably 14 dpo when I tested. I would always wait longer if you can as it can cause a lot of worry if you get an uncertain result. I have longer (34 day) cycles though so I wasn't sure when I ovulated as we didn't use OPKs or anything like that. We were just letting nature take its course which worked very well for us!

I've had, and still have, very light stretching feelings in my lower abdomen. I wouldn't call them cramps as such but they could be compared to the very very start of AF cramps. They are mild though and I think they could go unnoticed.

newjobnerves · 04/06/2019 13:37

I had a very early miscarriage/chemical pregnancy last month (not to worry you, I had a coil fitted so it wasn't meant to be) anyway I looked back on the data last week, it was fascinating. My resting HR is around 64 quite consistently, then almost to the day I was due to ovulate it increases gradually over a 2 week period up to around 70, then the day I started bleeding you see it go down again until it's back to 64 about 5 days later. I will be nervous every time my HR goes up around ovulation now!

newjobnerves · 04/06/2019 13:39

(But just to add my HR never goes anywhere near 70, mine doesn't increase much throughout a cycle, I'm pretty consistent around low 60s unless I'm calorie counting when it goes down to mid 50s) so it definitely wasn't a period thing.)

ImMeantToBeWorking · 04/06/2019 15:54

I just had a flick through my fit bit and my days range from 69bpm to 83bpm resting heart rate. Not sure I could depend on that for anything!

DaniX91 · 04/06/2019 17:40

@dottydally yeah I'm trying to hold out until Sunday cos I know if I test too early then I'll just get a negative anyway so it'll have been pointless!
How long were u ttc and were u taking any vitamins etc?
Yea I can't say that the cramps feel strong enough to be AF cramps but I didn't really know how else to describe them.
I was on the pill for 11/12 years and didn't have a period on it so it's been a while! However I don't remember having cramps like a week before AF was due in the past so hopefully it's a positive 🤞🏼 x

@newjobnerves I'm really sorry to hear that u had a miscarriage ❤️ fingers crossed for u for when u start ttc again. It really is fascinating isn't it. I'm loving reading other people's experiences

@DaniX91 it's not worth panicking yourself by testing early!

It was actually our first month ttc so we incredibly lucky and I was really surprised. I took supermarket folic acid (£1 for 90 tablets) until I got my BFP and now take pregnacare. I had taken folic acid for 3/4 months before we started ttc.

I was on the pill for 8 years but came off a year before we wanted to ttc. We had discussed it but there were things we wanted to do before we tried so we agreed to wait just over a year. It meant my body had plenty of time to get back in sync. I think that helped it happen as quickly as it did!

Good luck for Saturday Smile

Wallabyone · 04/06/2019 17:57

In each of my pregnancies, I've thought my period is coming before testing-cramps, feeling hot and tired. The early symptoms are confusingly similar! Good luck x

DaniX91 · 04/06/2019 18:01

@dottydally aw that's lovely that it's happened first time for u! This is our first cycle too so I'm hoping we can be as lucky as u! Although u did the sensible thing and stopped the pill well in advance, I took my last one on 10th May.
Thankyou 😘

OP posts:
DaniX91 · 04/06/2019 18:03

@Wallabyone oh really? That's reassuring to hear, although I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much because it's only our first cycle ttc. We just want it so badly x

OP posts:
DaniX91 · 05/06/2019 06:59

Hmm so my resting hr has dropped by 1 today, maybe it was the stress of going back to work after a week off! Haha

OP posts:
Kelpies · 05/06/2019 12:28

I only know this because my heart rate also went up last week and did a bit of research into it, our heart rates go up every cycle before AF shows up. Might be worth looking over the past few months.
I had a mc at 11wks last Christmas and my Fitbit tracked my heart rate go up loads.
I was definitely clinging on to the raised hb this month but won't do that again now that I know the facts.

ImMeantToBeWorking · 07/06/2019 08:22

Right to test the theory I checked my heart rate again today for the last few days and it has been fairly constant between 70 and 72 for the last number of weeks. I got my BFP today and only OV within the last two weeks!
