Is anyone else using Natural Cycles? I don't see it mentioned here a lot

Am I alone in using this app?

I also use clue but that doesn't get mentioned either!

Hi OP - I've been using it since 2016 (first for contraception) and then for TTC since January. I'm actually 14w - we conceived on the third cycle. I think it's fab and I'm still inputting data into it now. If you've got any questions, happy to try to answer them 😀

I've been using natural cycles for over two years including during my last pregnancy.

I'm surprised I don't see more people using it I guess

My guess is that it's a subscription app and the vast majority of people just use free ones 🤷

SunStruck · 30/05/2019 12:09

I am using it too and conceived first cycle trying 😄 unfortunately I miscarried at 9 weeks but will use it again after my first period after mmc.

Just a bit of advice... I kept using NC during pregnancy to check that my temps are still high as it gave me comfort (NC also recommend to keep using it the three first months just to get a heads up should something go wrong, ie temperature dip). I would REALLY recommend stop temping straight away after you get pregnant, because my temps were constantly high Which made me think this pregnancy is definitely going well! Baby died at 9 weeks which was discovered at my 10 week scan (temps still high), and even now after I've waited for natural management for almost 4 weeks and had to have D&C 2 days ago my temps are still high! As high as it was when I was pregnant.

Don't do that to yourselves, just put the thermometer away and enjoy your pregnancy, it cannot tell you when something goes wrong unfortunately!

Hi all!

I've been using Natural Cycles for two months now! I'm TTC first time! So far I've loved this app and the little messages you get of advice and recommendations! It has helped me so much in understanding how and when to TC etc...! Worth the subscription. However, I haven't ever tried free apps so don't know if they're just as good 😂

Thanks for advice @SunStruck sorry to hear about you're previous MC 😔 all the best of luck for your next time trying!!

@Weathergirl1 congrats! 🎉 all the best for your PG 😁

Capybaras · 30/05/2019 12:33

I was using natural cycles for 6 months before we started ttc and fell pregnant straight away. Am intending on using it again once baby is here! Found it really easy to use, and great way to track my cycle. I think if you're completely against the possibility of falling pregnant then it isn't for you, but otherwise it's great!

DoraNora · 30/05/2019 12:54

Also might not concern anyone here but between the 'free' apps and NC - at the moment NC collects your data (obviously) but I believe doesn't sell it on to third parties (it didn't when I was using it in 2017).

All the free ones are monetised by using/selling the data.

Seli3025 · 30/05/2019 13:02

@Capybaras hello! Great stuff! Another success story of using NC so clearly it's very accurate! Woo!

Congrats on PG when are you due? 🎉

Weathergirl1 · 30/05/2019 18:05

@DoraNora that's really topical - New Scientist has just published an article (unfortunately behind a paywall) talking about this very thing - they're calling it FemTech! I think you're ok with Fertility Friend too in that respect but I'm not sure what algorithms it uses - that's the point about NC is that the algorithms are the important part.

@SunStruck oh no, really sorry to hear that. Good luck getting back to normal.

I do still log temps, mostly out of habit, but it's probably a personal thing really whether it's the right thing to do or not.

@Seli3925 my DH was amused by the messages telling us to 'get between the sheets' - we do love a good euphemism in our household 😁. I was less impressed to be labelled a 'preggo cycler' though as I really hate that term - I gave them some feedback 🤣

Seli3025 · 30/05/2019 18:07

@Weathergirl1

Haha yes that message made us chuckle too!!

did you 😂 did they respond?

Weathergirl1 · 30/05/2019 18:11

Yep, the customer services person said she'd pass it on! I found some references to it being used in a derogatory way (I think it originally was and has become more slangy recently) and attached those to the email! 🤣🤣

Between the sheets was even more funny for us as we've got bamboo bedding made by a company called 'Between the Sheets' so my DH said we had to "get between the Between the Sheets sheets" 🤣🤣🤓

Seli3025 · 30/05/2019 18:13

@Weathergirl1 😂😂 brilliant if they changed it lol.

Seli3025 · 30/05/2019 18:14

Question to all about this

Got a message on the app the other day saying I have "nice and smooth temperature curves keep up the measuring" and then this morning my temp went way below my usual (messing up the curves) it went below the darker line in my chart (can't remember what the app calls that line) does this have any relation to AF coming ??

I think I'm losing my mind a bit 😂😂😂

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated🙏

I copied and pasted this from another thread I shared this on hence the weird font size!

Seli3025 · 30/05/2019 18:15

Oh ignore the end bit the font adjusted itself! 😂

Weathergirl1 · 30/05/2019 18:25

Will depend what cycle day you are - I'm assuming you've already ovulated this cycle if your other temps are above the coverline? I tended to get some variation in mine (though it said I was smooth) although the only cycle I found where it went under the coverline post ovulation was the cycle we conceived (I had a dip on I think about 6dpo which may have been implantation - though there isn't consensus on whether implantation dips are a thing or not!). It of course usually went back down again just before or after my period arrived.

Weathergirl1 · 30/05/2019 18:27

That said @Seli3025 I had about 30 cycles worth of data in the app by this point and you've not been using it very long so your coverline might still be a bit variable from one cycle to the next?

Seli3025 · 30/05/2019 18:37

@Weathergirl1 thanks for that! I'll keep an eye on it and true I've not used it long enough!

My womb skipped a beat when I read the bit you said about the cycle which went below the cover line was the cycle in which you conceived 😂💓

I won't get my hopes up though 😂

Weathergirl1 · 30/05/2019 18:47

@Seli3025 screenshot attached - it was 7dpo!

@Weathergirl1 thanks for sharing!! My was way below! And I can't attach a picture yet on this app 🤦🏻‍♀️
