Bfp not getting darker help

Hi, yesterday at I think 10dpo I got my bfp. I'm worried as my temp has steadily dropped and is now levelling our just above my cover line. I did another test this morning and it looks the same to me (the line is slightly fatter I think but no darker). Think this could be ok or not to get my hopes up? 😢
Top is yesterday's bottom is today's both fmu

Not to be negative but just realistic, something similar happened with my second pregnancy however mine started off mega strong and gradually faded and I knew something just wasn't right and I ended up losing that pregnancy. I really hope that's not the way it will end up for you xx
maybe wait 48hours and see if there is any progression, which I know is so hard to do because all I wanted to do was poas all day long at any hint of a line. Goodluck xx

mumof1hants · 28/05/2019 08:40

I think it looks a tiny bit darker @Abi58 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Try not to worry (yeah right!!) and maybe test in a few days xx

2beautifulbabs · 28/05/2019 09:19

I found those Frers not so great I would give it a couple of days longer and test with a digital one like clear blue I had a clear 1-2 weeks pregnant on those where as with the frer I had a very faint line and I can happily say my DD is now sat opposite me a few weeks old.

Another tip with those pee on the stick ones I think it's better to pee in a disposable cup and just dip it instead maybe it's just coincidence but I seemed to get a darker positive line if I'd dipped it rather than peed on it good luck op and fingers crossed for you

Abi58 · 28/05/2019 09:19

@BlueeSpottyTiger sorry to hear about your loss. I'm hoping it will get darker I will wait until tomorrow morning but it's all I can think about. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻thank you

@mumof1hants thank you. Husband had a look and was adamant they were the same, hoping it's just still really early and hasn't had chance to get darker yet. I do think it's a thicker line though and both definitely still pink and it's definitely not any lighter (at least not yet) 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@2beautifulbabs thank you! Aw that's amazing 😁 I am dipping them so hopefully it's just still early. Due af weds-fri according to apps so will try again tomorrow morning and hope it's darker if Friday comes I have a cb digital I will use 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

It's just concerning with my temp drops as well. If I hadn't been temping I'd be over the moon right now lol

I've just gone through something similar - although I must add that yours is such early days that I would still be hopeful and test again tomorrow and compare it to your first test. My lines on frer got a bit darker at first then seemed to stall then gradually got lighter and I had a CP. I knew something wasn't right as both times I have been pregnant before (1 successful, 1 mmc) the lines have gotten consistently darker.
As I said yours is very early days though (I wasn't testing that early) and it does take a while for HCG to double so please try not to worry yet (impossible I know, I was you this time last week and could not concentrate at all). I comforted myself with the fact that if something was wrong with the pregnancy then I would prefer it to end earlier rather than later.
I frantically googled this all of last week and found both good and bad endings so really hoping that it's a happy result for you xxx

Jeds55 · 28/05/2019 09:59

Also, just to add looking at your pic the second test does look slightly darker on the photos. Please try not to worry, I also comforted myself with knowing that the outcome is already determined - no amount of worry etc will change the outcome so you may as well be positive for today xxx

ELW85 · 28/05/2019 12:29

The second one definitely looks darker. It’s super early days to test though, so I’m sure if you gave it til Thursday it would have gotten even stronger.

Abi58 · 29/05/2019 07:50

@Jeds55 thank you so much! So sorry for your loss!

@ELW85 thank you! Yeah it is early I'm due af today-fri (hoping fri with how light it still is)

What will be will be I just want it so much.

Just annoying being in limbo can't celebrate or be upset because I just don't know.

Did another this morning and it's not lighter but not darker either (o don't think so) attached pic of the 3 together. :s

You see the same darkness with today's?

They are definitely pink. Frustrating at how hard it is to photograph a test!

Jeds55 · 29/05/2019 09:14

Hi @Abi58 it's so hard to tell from photos, I took so many that I drove myself mad. They look about the same to me, possibly today's one slightly darker when viewed at a distance but not when zoomed in? Of course they probably look so different up close or in different lights.
Totally understand what you mean about the limbo - you go from day 1 being over the moon to this awful rollercoaster of convincing yourself it'll be all fine one minute to being sure it's all over the next. I hope you can distract yourself with something today. Are you retesting tomorrow? If you can I would try to wait until Fri to see if there's a marked difference (advice I can give but not take!) Once again I hope it's good news for you - I read stories of ladies HCG levels rising really slowly at the start but all being fine but equally I read many stories where it did unfortunately mean bad news. Look after yourself xxx

Whyhaveidonethis · 29/05/2019 10:31

I'm really sorry to say this because I know exactly how you feel, but my cp last month looked exactly like this. Fingers crossed you have more luck. X

Abi58 · 29/05/2019 10:44

@Jeds55 thank you so much I'm keeping everything crossed but not letting myself get too excited. I am going to try and hold out until Friday 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Whyhaveidonethis sorry to hear about your loss. How long did they stay faint like this for? In person looking more I think it is slightly darker but I thought they would start getting a lot darker faster than this 😞

OP posts:
Whyhaveidonethis · 29/05/2019 17:23

@Abi58 yeah mine looked darker in life. I got my BFP on 11dpo and still had faint positives on CD17 when AF arrived. Let me know how you get on x

ELW85 · 29/05/2019 18:34

@Abi58 - honestly my best advice might sound a bit harsh, but please take it in the helpful way I mean it...
I would stay off the forums for a few days.

Not to disrespect any of these ladies experiences, but if it was me, it would only stress me out, which isn’t good for you at all!

Try and relax and have a few days not thinking about it, and test on Saturday.
I totally realise it’s easier said than done!

Obviously, these forums are great for support and are an awesome community but nobody is in your exact situation right now, so as much as everyone wants to help, none of us can give you answers.
In a few days though, whatever the outcome is, everyone will be here for you xx

Abi58 · 31/05/2019 15:08

Hi everyone, so the lines were still faint and this mornings possibly slightly fainter still! Went to the drs hoping to get a blood test to check levels we're raising but the dr told me that as long as I don't bleed or have symptoms of an ectopic the darkness of the line doesn't matter. Urine tests don't measure how much there is just whether it is there or not.

Dr took a urine sample there and did their test. At first it looked negative (although it was not my first wee and it was the palest I think I've ever done so was expecting negative) but then a line appeared, faint but darker and more definite than I've seen on my frers so apparently I'm pregnant!

Keeping everything crossed as it's still early days and there are always risks but for now my mind it put at rest and I can stop testing and stressing like a crazy woman!

Thank you all for your advise I really appreciate it!

🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻😁

Found the below on flo as well:
Initially, hCG doubles every 2–3 days and reaches its maximum amount by the 8th–11th week of pregnancy. Urine tests for hCG (home tests) only detect its presence, not the amount. Thus, they cannot indicate the gestational age

ELW85 · 31/05/2019 19:03

That’s great, really pleased to hear it and congratulations again!!

Bol87 · 31/05/2019 22:53

Curious about the tests not detecting gestational age - are the digi tests a bit of a con then?! What are they measuring to tell you 2-3 weeks etc?

Got my fingers crossed for you!

blackcatclocks · 31/05/2019 23:04

@Bol87 they can give an indication of gestational age due to the darkness of the line but not an exact figure of how much hCG there is.

Generally the FRERs do give you a reliable indication that your hormone levels are increasing well as they are so sensitive. I haven't found that other brands do. They can't however tell if you if a pregnancy will successfully progress. I had lovely strong lines in my first pregnancy that got darker every day but it ended in a MMC at 10 weeks. My friend had two early miscarriages and she knew something was wrong before she started to bleed in both pregnancies as the lines didn't get any darker.

Good luck and congratulations OP, hope everything goes well in your pregnancy.

Bunny43254 · 01/06/2019 01:55

Congratulations Abi xx

Jeds55 · 01/06/2019 09:10

@Abi58 yay, so happy for you that positive news. Wishing you a healthy and happy 9 months xxx

Abi58 · 04/06/2019 12:50

Hi everyone, thought I'd update.

Unfortunately not good news. After worrying then being told it was fine I started bleeding over the weekend and dr confirmed today that I am no longer pregnant. This was a different gp and he also said there is no link between darkness of the line and how well the pregnancy is progressing however after seeing photos of them getting darker and my experience I will be wary if this happens again.

Thanks again for all of the advice and support.
