Feeling down about ttc

LatteLover12 · 19/05/2019 16:39

Just fed up really. Been ttc for 9 months now and it's that old familiar feeling of disappointment and jealousy creeping back in.

I knew it could take a while (this would be my third and I'm 37) but I'd felt quietly confident and now AF is here again and it feels like everyone around me is pregnant or having babies.

Anyone else in the same boat?

I’m sorry you’re feeling down and it hasn’t happened to you yet

This is my second cycle TTC #2 after my first baby daughter was stillborn at full term in February

There are a few supportive groups on here. I’m in one 35+ TTC#1 (as hopefully my next baby will be my first living child) and one for TTC after pregnancy loss

tisonlymeagain · 19/05/2019 19:58

I know what you mean @LatteLover12. I'm only on cycle 2 of TTC and already feeling quite down about it. I am 39 and have got pregnant very easily in the past. I was feeling confident to start with but I'm losing it. It just feels like it will never happen for us (this would be first with new DP).

Sorry to hear about your daughter @AliceRR, that's very sad. I hope you are okay.

Squiff70 · 19/05/2019 20:00

I know what you mean too. Hope it happens for you on your next cycle Flowers

Samanabanana · 19/05/2019 20:04

I completely feel you. We have been TTC #2 since Christmas. It took almost 3 years to conceive #1 due to PCOS, and typically, my cycles were perfect for the first time after #1 but since Christmas have been very erratic... I'm currently day 38 and no BFP and no sign of AF! I too had been quietly confident we would conceive with less issues than last time due to an accidental pregnancy that resulted in an early miscarriage last year. I had forgotten how hard I was on myself during TTC last time, and I am rather full of self loathing at the moment. It's so hard not to stress about it, or be disappointed. So no words of wisdom but you're not alone! I hope you get a BFP soon Flowers

Wingingit9212 · 19/05/2019 20:06

Hi all, same here too. TTC #2 and it's not going quite as swimmingly as last time. Cycle 4 but have just had a very very heavy early period (?), so I'm thinking maybe it's something else.

I have some of those OPK kits left over from last time, but realised they expired in January! Think I'd better get some more. What does everyone recommend.
Also, does anyone here have to navigate shift work? Makes DTD very hard, as we rarely see each other and when we do we're exhausted.

@AliceRR so sorry for your loss Thanks

bobbypinseverywhere · 19/05/2019 20:07

absolutely. I'm TTC #1, also 9 months in. I'm the only one out of our friends without a baby, and most are on number 2. i think i have the start of AF today and i just feel so hopeless. i just have this feeling it isn't going to happen for us and its what i want more than anything.

LatteLover12 · 19/05/2019 20:12

Thanks ladies

This will be my first with my new partner too @tisonlymeagain

I thought I'd be able to stay more laid back than I am because I feel like this baby is for him more than me if that makes sense? Clearly I was deluding myself!

I'm so sorry for your loss @AliceRR I hope you have your rainbow baby soon.

Going to have a few days off taking my temperature at 6am (what a treat! 😂) and order some more blummin' pregnacare!

Thank you @tisonlymeagain and @Wingingit9212

I tried the OneStep strips form Amazon last cycle. They were cheap - about £13 for 90. They are slightly faffy as you have to pee in a cup and leave it to get to room temp etc and I didn’t get a positive with those just two highs so had to guess, but was my first cycle trying them.

For this cycle I’m using the CB connect which you can just use like a pregnancy test (POAS) and gives a flashing smiley when you are high fertility and a static smiley when you are peak fertility and sends results to an app on your phone. Their other digital tests are similar but without the app. I got mine from Amazon and they were quite a bit cheaper than Boots.

Shift work can’t help. Can you manage to dtd every other day?

OP it is really hard when you are TTC and it doesn’t happen straight away. I think a lot of us can relate to that almost all consuming desire to have a child. I hope it happens for you soon but you are certainly not alone on the meantime

kell2126 · 19/05/2019 20:37

I totally feel you @LatteLover12. I'm TTC #1 at 38 years old and prob moving on cycle #8 at the end of this week. Every time I find out someone is pg I feel happy for them but also jealous and sad for myself and DH, which makes me feel like a bad person! So no words of wisdom from me, only to say you're not alone in feeling like this and I hope you get that BFP soon x

Wingingit9212 · 20/05/2019 10:58

@kell2126 you're not a bad person, feeling like that is totally normal x

Wingingit9212 · 20/05/2019 11:01

@AliceRR thanks for the advice, will try to source some better OPKs, particularly for this next cycle, so I can be clearer on my Ov dates going ahead.
In terms of DTD every other day, at a push we could, but I don't know about everyone else, it just seems less sexy/fun when it's being done out of necessity! 🙈

Savvysaz · 20/05/2019 11:43

I’m here too, down today. Pretty sure AF is on her way after pink CM and cramps. I’m only going into cycle 4 but I’m feeling disheartened. I’m literally doing everything I can. I feel like I can’t move into the next phase of my life now, like this is holding me back. I’m 32 and ttc #1.

kell2126 · 20/05/2019 11:52

thank you @wingingit9212 :) x

AliceRR · 20/05/2019 13:45

@Wingingit9212 Yes I think it does become more of an obligation if you’re timing around ov but I still enjoy it for the most part(!) and want to make a baby 🤷🏻‍♀️ x

flyingplum · 21/05/2019 09:20

At almost 18 months here. Had a chem in February, and then two really long cycles (47 days). Have finally had all tests done for referral to fertility clinic, and just now feel really glum. I think the referral has made me realise this is real...we're probably not going to be able to do it in our own. Have horrible down mood at the moment, mainly to do with AF, but spent most of yesterday evening in tears, playing worst case scenarios in my head of OH leaving me because I couldn't have children. There's some other stuff going on too, and I feel like I'm in a pretty dark place today. It'll be better tomorrow. But today I feel shit.

Wingingit9212 · 21/05/2019 14:51

@flyingplum , I'm so sorry you're going through this. I think it's a totally normal thing to go through all the 'what ifs' but fertility specialists are amazing in this day and age, I'm sure you will get all the help and advice needed to have a little bubba :)

WatchingTheWheels85 · 21/05/2019 14:54

I'm 34 and about to go into cycle number 8. I've had a guts full of sex and if I see another pregnant person I will cry.

kell2126 · 21/05/2019 15:35

oh @flyingplum sending bagfuls of hugs to you x

flyingplum · 21/05/2019 15:45

Thanks @kell2126 and @Wingingit9212

Feeling much less poop this afternoon now hormones have calmed down and had a hug from a friend. Going out tonight so might just a bit smashed and forget about it all for a bit. 😁

Wingingit9212 · 21/05/2019 15:59

@WatchingTheWheels85 so sorry :( hopefully we can all support each other in this group and get our BFPs :)

@flyingplum yessss do it!! Sometimes you just need a gin! Or beer... or vodka... or rum... but never Tequila. No one ever needs tequila. 😂😂😂
Xx

Tryin4no2 · 21/05/2019 16:37

Hi all, I’m in a similar place to lots of you, trying for no 2 (so I know I am lucky to already have my DD)- it took us 3 years to conceive her without any diagnosis of anything to treat, and we have been trying since November. I’m gearing up to have the fertility tests done again in case something was missed and also as we conceived just after I had the HSG test last time and there were studies which mentioned it increased hormones for a 3 month period (just mentioning in case anyone else felt like trying it) (the other thing I think helped me first time around was fertilaid CM tablets and lots of water - soz prob TMI but it can really help if you don’t have enough CM!) It’s so hard not to let it take over everything - just reading the fertility diet... and bracing myself to give up dairy. Anyone else tried that? Anyway, lots of baby dust to all and flying plum - it’s good to blow off some steam every now and again! Xxx

LatteLover12 · 22/05/2019 21:41

Hello everyone, sorry to see so many in the same boat.

AF almost gone now so back to charting for me. I have 34 day cycles so usually ov around cd20 which seems to take FOREVER to come round!

I've bought DP some vitamins to take this month too - if only to see him have to swallow those massive tablets like I have to! 😂

Someone else announced their 'surprise' pregnancy at work yesterday. I just wanted to cry/scream.

WatchingTheWheels85 · 23/05/2019 06:03

I'm going to try and think positively that this will give me another month to lose 7lbs. I've been listening to Paul McKenna every night and it's definitely helping.

Wingingit9212 · 23/05/2019 11:42

Oh my gosh, yes I need to get back to my level of health before #1, but I have 0 willpower. Work visit today meant a naughty breakfast and cakes for someone's birthday when we got back! 😩😩😩

Wingingit9212 · 25/05/2019 15:43

How's everyone doing? :)

Has anyone come off Cerazette to TTC? Since coming off my body has been so unpredictable! I'm 4 days away from OV and having a period/spotting... less than ideal 😩😩😩
I can't cope with all the surprise periods!
