Am I not ovulating?

Hi all,

I've been doing ovulation tests recently to track my ovulation. I didn't use them with my first as she was a honeymoon baby and we conceived in the first month of trying. They're out of date but from what I've read that shouldn't make a difference. After doing them for the last 6 or 7 days I haven't had a clear positive. I've read that the test line should be super dark but any lines I got were faint, or maybe 1/2 that of the control. I did get what I thought were some cramps for a couple of the days but now I've convinced myself I wasn't ovulating and must have been either imagining the cramps or it was something else. Does anyone have any experience with this? I feel like a complete noob with the ovulation tests etc

Thanks Lucy

How long are your cycles? It could be you started too late and missed the surge. After a positive opk you'll tend to ovulate between 12-36 hours later

Charlotte9876 · 14/05/2019 07:23

You might also still not have ovulated, so keep testing. I only ovulated CD26 this month (so used a lot of tests!)

I don't really know anywhere beyweem 23 and 32 days according to the tracker I use...

I couldnt get ovulation tests to work. I tried them for 1 cycle, but I never got the positives to say I was nearing ovulation or had ovulated (followed the instructions, tests in date, etc).

But I must have because I got a BFP 2 weeks later!

I'd keep going for a few days more. I ovulated on CD16 on a 29 day cycle last month. Sometimes my cycles are up to 35 days so ovulation would be later.

Also make sure you're doing the test at the right time of day. If it's the strips you need to do that in the afternoon after you've not had a wee for a few hours, but at this stage I'd do it later in the evening too. My afternoon one yesterday was quite strong but evening one was barely there - but I know I've not reached peak yet as also doing the ClearBlue Advanced.

I think perhaps you're testing too late in your cycle especially if it's 23 days long - my cycle is 29 days and I usually start cycle day 8 as I ovulate anywhere from day 12 to day 17

Also how many times a day are you testing? I test 2/3 times a day once I can see it start to get a bit darker - I would say most times it's the test I do before bed around 10pm which generally shows the darkest peak line - that being said the last month I got a BFP (ended in miscarriage) the Premom app I use to analyse the test strips only got to around 0.6 so didn't look darker than the control line - so I suspect the really dark peak was in the middle of the night x

I've been testing twice, once in the morning and once again in the later afternoon. I will try testing more often, might even need to do one at work at lunchtime!

I do it at work @LucyES! I'd be doing one mid-afternoon and then maybe another early evening.

dottyp0104 · 14/05/2019 15:00

Hi, i think you are testing too late. I have a 23 day cycle and ovulate at around day 8/9. I start from day 7 and go from there. By day 11 i am negative again. You may just be missing it

Comps83 · 14/05/2019 17:09

Mine never got dark
I got a clear blue positive with the 3rd one down and presume that’s when I conceived too

tisonlymeagain · 14/05/2019 17:12

Mine never went much darker than that either @Comps83 but I got a static smiley from ClearBlue

LucyES · 14/05/2019 17:26

Ok thanks for all the replies! Reassured that not all positives are super dark and I'll keep testing too
