OPKing - am I doing it wrong?

Today is CD 12, and my tracking app predicts I will ovulate around day 14 (Tuesday). I've been doing OPKs for three days now, twice a day, and yesterday's OPKs were darker than today's, although they weren't blazing positivies. I'm using up some internet cheapies but they're usually quite reliable and show a strong, dark line on the day of/day before ovulation. Am I doing something wrong?

Are you able to post a picture of the darkest one you've had? Doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. I've also noticed that some people here never seem to get a fully positive one as shown in the instructions. Perhaps their LH surge is so short...

Are you also testing around the same time of the day every day?

@sassenach84 Thank you for your reply. I can't post a pic as I've thrown most of the tests in the bin. I used FMU this morning and the line was so pale, but did one at 6pm and the line is stronger and visible but not dark, so maybe it's right? Hopefully it'll be darker tomorrow.

Yeah its best to test in the afternoon . They say not to use fmu

Mine never got to ‘positive ‘

@Comps83 thanks for the photo and the advice, so I'll stop the FMU ones. My 6pm tonight OPK was darker thankfully so I think about 36-48 hours should do it. How far along are you now?

Sometimes you can ovulate early. I normally start OPK-ing on CD10 cause I ovulate on CD13-14 like clockwork. This cycle just gone I'm pretty sure I ovulated on CD10 though and I missed my positive OPK.

Squiff I’m no expert as this is my first month OPKing. I started in CD13 (expecting to ov around CD 18 and got a strong (but not positive) line on IC (One Step). CD14 I got a still dark but lighter line and after that the line was much lighter (testing once a day)

I assume I ov CD13/14 but if not pregnant this cycle then next cycle I would test from earlier and maybe twice a day once the line looks strong

@Comps83 is good with OPKs and helped me with mine

Some people have said they never get a positive with IC so another option is to test with CB when you get a strong line x
