Chemical? Or is it early

I haven't had a period since giving birth in December.
I had a positive test on the 16th April a frer

Two day later a negative frer and negative cheapies, then I've been bleeding heavily since 25th and done a test this morning which had a very very faint line, it was a cheapy

Any ideas what is happening?

Hi butterflykiss00, sorry you're going through this. A stressful time with a new baby. From giving birth in December the high levels of Hcg should be out of your system by now. I would suspect that if you had a positive April 16th, then a heavy bleed you would have most likely had a chemical pregnancy. Try another test in a couple of days to compare with the one you had this morning to see whether the line is getting any darker. All the best X.

Thankyou, I was thinking it's definetly a loss, but with the tests going negative then positive I though let how can that happen lol x

Today cheapies are the same , line came up straight away. Digi was negative

I'd get a FRER if I were you, in my experience if a line is visible on a cheapie it'll definitely come up on a FRER (although I've always found digitals quite good for early testing as well)

I have had negative tests and a bleed followed by a positive and it was an ectopic pregnancy. If the positives continue for a few more days I’d seek an early scan to be on be safe side. They can check location really quite early (4+2 in my case).

butterflykiss00 · 30/04/2019 07:17

@Polly99 thanks, I was just thinking about ectopic because I had a tugging pain in my right side earlier , can an ectopic cause hcg levels to go up and down?
I'm ringing hospital today to see, I feel sick and on Saturday and Sunday I had diarrhoea

Ectopics can present weirdly because they are where they are not meant to be and so it is tougher for them to implant.
The one-sided feelings are pretty normal in pregnancy (and non-pregnant cycles too)- all to do with the corpus luteum cyst pumping out progesterone or otherwise breaking down. So I wouldn’t be too worried, but I think where there is early period-like bleeding and a positive test it is worth getting checked, just to be on the safe side.

butterflykiss00 · 30/04/2019 07:34

@Polly99 thankyou , the bleeding was reallly heavy unTIL yesterday it settled down a little bit and is now just a normal heavy period

Well, see how you go. If you are still getting positives in a few days get a scan to check location. Good luck- I hope all’s well.
