Brown discharge bfn

Hi

We have been TTC#3.
Today I have had brown discharge now there is very little when I wipe. I've never noticed this before my period before.
I took a pregnancy test that detects 6 days before period is due but a bfn. My periods are quite irregular and the last one was a 36 day cycle.
Any ideas?
