Applying for new job while ttc

Evening all.

My current job makes me miserable, and I'm looking for alternatives. Jobs in my field come up very rarely, but there's one out at the moment which is perfect. What's stopping me applying is my fear of losing out on a fairly decent maternity package with my current employer - but have no idea when we might get lucky! (7 cycles so far..)

My question is - how long would I need to work for the new company for before qualifying for full mat. pay? The policy says 'have worked for your employer continuously for at least 26 weeks continuing into the ‘qualifying week’ - the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth'.

I think this means I'd need to stop ttc for a couple of months, if I got the job, to make sure I had enough time under my belt with the new employer?

You need to have one period before you start. The company may have a different policy, but that is what's required for amp (the company may require you to work longer for some enhanced policy or something).

40 (weeks of pregnancy) - 15 (weeks you needed to work before due date) = 25. You need one more week on that.

As physicskate says, so essentially a cycle. Of course you'll need to factor in the application/interview process and notice period so depending on how long that takes you could be looking at a few months.

From experience, I'd say apply. I spent waaaaay too long in my current job being miserable while ttc because I didn't want to start a new job and get pregnant quickly. Literally the weekend before my bfp we decided to stop ttc for a bit so I could change my job. Then had to endure another 7 months of a job I hated (38 weeks pregnant now)! If I'd known how long it would have taken I would have changed jobs many months before.
