Plus size mums - reassurance?

Hi all,

So I’m a plus size lady TTC #1

We started TTC in November 2018. BFP Jan 12th but miscarried at 6 weeks. I then had a chemical at the end of March.

Could this be because of my weight?

I’m taking high dose folic acid and prenatal vitamins etc. I’m trying to eat healthier and we are eating more veg and cooking majority from scratch but it’s not perfect (not going to lie!). Will be easier when the school holidays are over and I’m back to work (teacher).... and when chocolate disappears from every supermarket shelf. I think part of it is eating chocolate because of the losses... it’s quite difficult to come to terms with especially now it’s happened twice.

I’m more than aware that being quite overweight is bad and carries risks etc, but I can’t shed everything overnight.... it’s going the right way though!

Any plus size stories would be really appreciated.

Xx

How plus sized?

I've always been a size 16 plus and conceived.

My sis has been a size 20/22 when pregnant.

It can affect things but it's not always the default cause iykwim

I'm plus size currently size 22, I did have problems conceiving, including a chemicl pregnancy and very long cycles. Took 3 years of TTC during which i found out I have PCOS and insulin resistance.

Going on a low GI diet and losing 3 stone bought back regular cycles and eventually a BFP and my gorgeous DD.

Sorry posted too soon.

Have put the weight back on since having DD but for me size 16/18 was the sweet spot where my body started to work right.

I was a size 18/20 with PCOS when I got pregnant within 4 months and had a healthy baby. I'd previously had a miscarriage and wondered if it was my fault as I was overweight, but so many pregnancies end early on that it could have been anything. Try not to worry as you are taking the right steps with the healthy eating and folic acid. I was really careful with what I ate and tried to be active and ended up not putting any weight on during my pregnancy (what I gained in baby I lost in fat). I think I would have struggled if I'd put more weight on as I have a lot of pelvic pain. Good luck!

You’re right in that weight can be a contributing factor, but as PP said, it’s not always the way. From what you’ve said you’re looking at your diet and as life happens it is not always the best (I doubt anybody eats perfectly 100% of the time).

I’m a 20-22, depending on the shop and only below the waist! However, I am currently pregnant with my second and if you haven’t already spoken with your GP about the challenges you’re having, that really should be your next step.

Good luck with everything.
