My husband and I have been TTC for 6 months. Appreciate that in TTC terms that's not long but things don't seem right. I am 35 and have short cycles (19-22 days). I have been tracking BBT and using OPKs. It looks like I ovulate around day 12. But after a temp rise for a few days it comes back down again and I have a short luteal phase. I've always thought something was not quite right with my hormones and this looks like low progesterone. I have symptoms of low progesterone and so if this was sorted, irrelevant of the fertility issue I would be so relieved as I feel pretty unwell at times.
I have seen an acupuncturist and without me mentioning my suspicions she took a look at my BBT chart and said it looked like low progesterone. She suggested I asked my GP for tests.
I saw my GP yesterday to ask for blood tests. I appreciate we've not been ttc for long but due to my age and irregular cycles I thought that merited an appointment- as per the NHS guidance on their website.
The GP was so rude. He didn't ask me any questions about my medical or sexual history or about my cycle or intercourse with my husband. He told me that difficulty conceiving is a common problem due to people leaving it too late and gave me a lecture on the cost of IVF to the NHS! Basically told me to come back in 6 months.
I was so upset and have requested an appointment with a different GP. I plan to also complain to the practice manager. In the mean time can anyone give me any advice for my next appointment? I'm not asking to be referred or for any treatment- I just literally want a few blood tests because my cycles are irregular and my luteal phase is short.
I am taking b6, vitamin C, agnus castus and pregnacare in the hope of improving things.
Thanks in advance.
