Clearblue OPK

Hi al,

I'm just looking for some people to share their experience of the clearblue digital OPKs.

I'm on CD18 and still no smiley when I really should be ovulating around now - been testing since CD 10. I've been using FMU as the instructions say but I have read a few people on here say they get better results testing later in the day. Perhaps I am just going to ovulate later this cycle but would be good to hear what other people's experiences are with the tests!

Hiya, my experience with clearblue OPK has been very hit and miss. I'm on cycle 7 and I used it a few times previously but it showed fertile for more than 10 days. Ann the time i was fertile it didn't pick up. I stopped using it for a while and thought let me give it a go this month. So far so good, it's picked up correctly. I'm using OPK and cervical mucus and using the app.

do you use your FMU to test can i ask?
what app are you using - i have about 3 on the go! I am trying to tell when I'm fertile using every means possible it seems... just want one sign already!

Just to give another experience - I got static on day 16 using fmu following 4 days of flashing smileys. Did do some afternoon tests as well on days 14/15. Think good idea to do some fmu and afternoon if you have enough sticks.

@emmyloucuddles Whats FMU? im guessing first morning urine? yes I do! :D

In terms of apps im using ovia (not a big fan) and calendar by Amila (pretty basic but very accurate).

My cycle is never the same every month varies from 25 days to 31 days and this is the first month i've been able to track my fertile week, which is this week. I think i'll be ovulating tomorrow or Friday!

How long have you been TTC? And how long have you been monitoring your cycles?

@becca3210 thanks for sharing! I would just like one flashing smiley right now haha. I think you are right might throw some afternoon tests in there as well. I seem to enjoy POAS anyway... 

@mila1988 yes sorry it means your first morning pee! Ah haven't heard of the second one, will check it out. I use Clue which seems pretty good for tracking my cycle and when my periods are coming but that's not being backed up these OPKs! I also use Fertility Friend (for temps) which is good at giving an insight into my cycle. I am on Cycle 4 but had been giving it a more casual approach (just a lot of BDing around when I thought I was fertile) - until this month where I have decided to throw everything but the kitchen sink at it..

Am on cycle 4 too so having a similar thing of wanting to throw everything at it this month. Hopefully yours is just a late ovulation and your smileys will come soon. Is this your first month of using them? The first month of using the cheaper clear blue ones I didn’t get a smiley not sure if I ovulated v late that month or just didn’t work for me.

@mila1988 sorry I should add that I did use
these Clearblue OPKs last month but didn't catch a smiley at all. I did only test for a bit more than a week mid-cycle though so maybe I'm just a late one with ovulation ....

@emmyloucuddles we've been doing the same! we've DTD when i thought i was ovulating! clearly didnt work but this month, we're going all in. DH is on wellman I'm taking my vitamins and we're also using pre-seed! i've heard amazing things about pre-seed so heres hoping!

Maybe try measuring from day 10 of your cycle everyday until you get a positive smiley?

@becca3210 ah we sound pretty much the same! Last month was my first month of using OPKs and I got nothing too. how far are you into this cycle? X

@mila1988 haha yes, we're the same! Doing everything but the pre-seed. I have heard amazing things too - I hope it works for you. I'll be giving it a go next cycle I think. What day are you on now? Xx

@emmyloucuddles are you using a new digital reader thing for this month as you can re use sticks from previous month but need to use a new reader? Only just found that out. I am 3dpo so bit of a wait before testing begins! We used pre seed for a few dtd attempts but may up our use next month if no use.

@becca3210 @mila1988 I just tested again to see it was different in the afternoon aaaannnd - got my smiley! How strange!!

Aww that's defo a good sign!! Lots of baby dust for all of us :) I'm on day 3 of my fertile week, I think I'll be ovulating in the next few days so fingers crossed!

I am on day 5 of flashing smileys on the clearblues. 😂 I am hoping I ovulate eventually this cycle?!!! Then I might be able to join you....xxx

So i started testing from monday - friday last week everyday i got a flashing smiley, then i ran out of strips!! so i'm guessing i ovulated over the weekend or maybe the clearblue strips are once again not working for me! 😂
I'm pretty sure i ovulated either friday/saturday due to cervical mucus changes though!

I found that both ovia and Flo were inaccurate with ovulation. I used the CB digital ovulation, but not the one with a flashing smiley. I found that I didn't ovulate until cd 19, much later than the apps said. I made sure we DTD every other day minimum and we finally got a BFP today CD30.

@ELJ1502 congratulations on your BFP!!!!! How long are your cycles normally then?

Mine at normally 33 and I'm on Day 23 and still not peak result on my clearblue digital. 😫 xx

For the first 3 cycles of trying they were 28 days. Last month, I was 4 days late, so 32days.

I thought I was out this cycle, after a couple of BFNs and lots of brown CM.

I've read about people having their peak around that day. You might just have a shorter luteal phase.

@mila1988 I am going through sticks too - so glad I got a 20 pack and a 10 pack 😂 testing twice a day now too incase I miss that surge. Hopefully I will get that static smiley or an I just going to get asking until AF is due!!

@ELJ1502 our body can play some tricks on us can't it! So glad you got your BFP though.

@emmyloucuddles I found it crazy that we go for years trying to stop everything, being petrified of getting pregnant and then finding out how hard it is to actually get pregnant.
