16DPO & BFP! What next?

Hi everyone,

I took a test 12DPO and got my first BFP! I’m now two days late and took a test yesterday morning and got another BFP Smile!

I’ve booked an appointment with the GP for next Tuesday. This is my first, so it’s all very new to me. Can anyone advise what happens next?

My last period began on 5th March so that makes me 5 weeks today - still very early on I know. I’m trying my best not to get impatient but it’s really hard haha.

Thanks

Smile

The GP will arrange a 12 week scan for you. I think you might even be able to do this yourself online. Nothing else happens! Surprisingly. Congratulations by the way! Take a prenatal if you are not already.

Ahhh okay! So they don’t do blood tests to confirm it or anything? Just take your word?

I’ve got a holiday booked for the beginning of May. I’d love to have a scan before I go away just to confirm everything is okay but I think that will be too early as i’ll only be 8 weeks.

Thank you!

Around here you just ring the GP reception and they book your booking in appointment with the midwife, so you don’t need to see a GP. With my first I booked a GP appontment and he was like, so why are you here? 😄 it varies area to area. Congratulations!

You could book a private viability scan at 8 weeks as they should be able to see a heartbeat by then. Suggest you go to a private clinic rather than a commercial outfit though IYSWIM

Got a feeling my GP will probably do the same 😂

Ahhh okay, didn’t realise you could book private scans that early. Might consider doing that for peace of mind before the hol!

Thank you for your help x
