Period a week early?

We are actively TTC. My period has turned up a week (actually 8 days) early.

I'm usually fairly regular.

Anybody have any ideas what's going on?

@droningtraffic is it a proper flow and do you have other AF symptoms? Or is it more like spotting?

Sometimes periods can arrive early due to factors such as stress, illness or a sudden change in lifestyle.

It's not normally anything to worry about if your periods are usually regular Smile

lori2019 · 08/04/2019 21:32

@droningtraffic I had similar, 11 days early.
It wasn't like a usual period for me, spotting for a couple of hours on 2 days then a day of bleeding.

Doctor is sending me for bloods this month day 21 & 3. She also asked me to do to a test a couple of days after I would have been due had I not had this bleed, that's tomorrow. So I'm either on Day 28 or day 12, I guess I'll know for sure in the morning.

droningtraffic · 09/04/2019 06:37

It's a bit stop start and lighter than usual.

Very frustrating not knowing what's going on.

It could be that you had a failed conception, before accurate pregnancy tests it was common to think you were "early" or "late" but then sometimes your body just does odd things

droningtraffic · 09/04/2019 07:21

Was wondering that, @stucknoue

Also wondered about implantation but apparently that's a myth?

We're TTC our second and we managed it on my first cycle last time. This is my third cycle of trying and it's most stressful!

I guess these things happen, did a test as my doc said - unsurprisingly negative. So I guess I'm in fertile window again - opk still neg on day 13 so possibly ovulating later this month 🤷‍♀️

BudgieBird · 09/04/2019 13:08

@droningtraffic I wouldn't say implantation bleeding is a myth, just that a lack of it doesn't mean you're not pregnant because only about 30% of pregnant women see it, IIRC. What you had could very well be implantation bleeding. It will differ from your period in that it won't have any clots, it will be more spotty rather than full flow, and it will tend to be pinkish or brownish rather than bright red.

droningtraffic · 09/04/2019 14:07

Hmmm @BudgieBird

It does sound plausible.

Do you have a link to the 30% stat? I'm not doubting what you're saying but would like more info.

Said 'period' has stopped. It's normally a week long.

Not used to being this out of control. Being in control and having all the info is literally what I do.

This is hard!

I had implantation bleeding with this pregnancy so I don't agree that it is a myth. It was AFTER my first positive test but BEFORE my period was due and was very light. Because it was after a bfp I assumed I was miscarrying but I'm now almost 35 weeks pregnant so turns out it wasn't! I didn't have it with my Ds though

droningtraffic · 09/04/2019 16:17

Thank you!

I was ttc #4 for 19m. One month I had a cycle which was only 16days long, never had a cycle so short before in 39yrs or again. I did have flu the month before so maybe that caused it. I just put it down to a wonky cycle.

BudgieBird · 09/04/2019 21:23

@droningtraffic No problem - I'm actually having the same questions right now. I dunno if my period is arriving four days early or I'm having implantation bleeding and it's driving me mad, especially as it's too early to take a pregnancy test!

ms5ft · 09/04/2019 22:34

I’m in the same boat. Started this weird bleed yesterday! Fingers crossed x

BudgieBird · 10/04/2019 19:13

Well, looks like it was a slightly early period arriving with spotting after all; not an implantation bleed. Or maybe the egg started to implant and it was just too late - my luteal phase was only 8 days long this time around! Ugh. Usually I get ten days.

ms5ft · 10/04/2019 19:52

I’m going to a GUM clinic tomorrow/day after for second opinions. If it’s an early period then fine but I wanna know why and make sure everything is ok down there! This is so stressful Confused

droningtraffic · 11/04/2019 20:49

Well it stopped the day after it started so there is still hope.

Wonder if implantation is more likely with second pregnancies?

how are you doing @droningtraffic did you test or has af arrived?
