Chemical pregnancy at 39

Hi all,

I've just had a chemical pregnancy (4 weeks) at 39 - it was on our 4th cycle. I'm feeling a bit anxious as worried it's because of my age! I conceived first dc on 2nd cycle at 36 but I know that it may well take longer as I'm older now. Does anyone have any suggestions or words of wisdom?

Thank you!

No words of wisdom but I am with you on those worries. I am 39 too and just about to start TTC for no 3 (first with my partner). I think a chemical pregnancy can happen at any age though so definitely not just an age thing, I think we're just more focused on it.

I don't really have any wise words but here is my experience.

We started trying for dc4 just after my 38th birthday. On cycle 10 I got a bfp at 12dpo but sadly lost it by 17dpo. Nothing then for another 9 cycles until I finally got a bfp in November (aged 39) on cycle 19. I had literally just booked a GP appointment to discuss options and DH had been to see GP and been referred for sperm analysis. I didn't go sooner as I didn't think they would do anything for number 4.

Anyway I'm now nearly 23wks. All good.

And I'm really sorry for your loss xx

@mamma1234 I have no words of wisdom but I don't think it's your age. I've been TTC for 22 months and have had 3 chemical pregnancies.
