TWW - non alcoholic beer...???

So after a crappy day, I really just wanted a cold one. Have heard that Heineken is the best alcohol free beer so picked some up on my way home - upon drinking it I realise the packaging In fine print on the back says 'no more than 00.05% alcohol' .... like what?? How do they sell it as alcohol free when it DOES have alcohol...? Should I stop drinking it? Is it safe? Ugh my husband will be annoyed if I drink even a drop of alcohol during the TWW and pregnancy beyond....

Am I right in thinking that you are waiting to see if you have conceived? If that's the case then you can have a beer. Let's assume you have conceived, the embryo has a yolk sack which is its source of nutrition until it has implanted on the uterus wall and the placenta has developed. It is only once the placenta has formed that the baby receives its nutrition from the mother (and therefore alcohol if the mother drinks). So you are fine to have a drink.

This ^^

You can safely "drink till it's pink" (and tell your DH to get stuffed)

There is alcohol in a lot of things, including bread, for example. But it's not significant.

Here are the rules: labellingtraining.food.gov.uk/module10/overview_3.html

If you're interested, you can read more about alcohol in food and drink here:

Drink it and tell your husband to mind his own. I drank through my pregnancy, as did several of my family members.

Thanks guys. This somewhat helped. My husband honestly isn't controlling - I know it sounds like that but he's just a very cautious person- doesn't drink himself, never tried a cigarette etc. - that type of thing!

While we are on this actually, If im not pregnant then do you think it's to ttc next month the day before I go on a 2 night hen do in Madrid which will definitely be boozey!?

I’ve been drinking 0.5% beer (so significantly more alcohol than your 0.05% beer!) throughout pregnancy! And I’ve had the odd thimbleful of red wine too. All is perfect so enjoy your perfectly safe beer!

Kinsters · 23/03/2019 04:44

There's so little alcohol in it I'm sure you'll be fine. My DH is allergic to alcohol but he can have a few alcohol free beers and be fine (I think a couple of pints is his limit).

With next month, you're going away a few days after you ovulate? I'm sure you'll be fine. I think I read somewhere that drinking can make implantation less likely to happen but that it won't cause problems for the embryo if it does implant.

Pastaallday · 23/03/2019 16:55

Youll be fine to ttc at the hen do. Honestly, a lot of women don't even know they are pregnant in the early days and drink. I got my bfp the day after a very boozy Xmas party!

A glass of orange juice can legally contain up to 0.5% alcohol, though they don't state this on the bottle. So less than 0.05% is nothing!
