Welcome @AysLon 😄 they are very addictive!

cupcakesandglitter · 28/03/2019 10:20

@FlapJackered I'm with you - hardest year of my life 😩 waaaaay more stressful than I anticipated!!

@KatBeCool thankyou, I have no idea what's given me this positive vibe this cycle 😂 I've kept my OPKs in the bathroom but I've put them under all of the towels; that way I know they're there but I always run to the loo and forget about them until after I've already peed 😂😂 I haven't had much luck with OPKs though so I guess I can kind of live without using them until next cycle how are you? X

starkid · 28/03/2019 11:23

@PeacockingAbout - Aww congratulations!! :) xx

@AysLon - welcome to the thread! what cycle are you on?

OP posts:
AysLon · 28/03/2019 11:28

@starkid I am cycle 2. Cycle 1 was 32 days, seems a bit long to me. Was using the Flo app bit wasn't sure how accurate the Ovulation predictor was. This cycle is the first using CB OPKs. It's so much more stressful than I thought it would be but I know it's early days for me, only cycle 2. I've been off the pill since October 2018.

SunStruck · 28/03/2019 11:32

@AysLon

I am also on cycle 2 and came off the pill in October last year. My period never went back to normal though (had 2 very far apart, over 2 months after I stopped the pill), and end of Jan I went to an OBGYN who gave me some hormone pills to regulate the period.

So this is my second cycle trying, charting temp as well as using OPK tests. Fingers crossed for us!

Did you go back to normal periods very quickly?

AysLon · 28/03/2019 11:38

@SunStruck My fi4st period post-pill was 52 days after coming off, then the subsequent ones have been around the 31 day mark. This is my 2nd cycle trying. How do you check your temperature? If I get to cycle 3 (probably will) I am going to start doing that. I'm worried I will miss the O.

MrsAW2018 · 28/03/2019 11:40

Aww congratulations @PeacockingAbout xx

I've not been here for a while, AF was the worst it's been in years so that sucked 😖. Currently CD9 and heading into FW I guess. Not sure whether to use OPKs this cycle or not. I would start using them tomorrow but I just can't decide😩. I kind of want to use them because I'm a bit of a control freak but then I kind of want to take a more relaxed approach this time too. We're not doing SMEP this month but every other day instead and using pre seed instead of conceive plus to see whether that makes a difference as well.

Sorry for the essay ladies, need to catch up as best I can but I hope you're all doing well x

Jooloo11 · 28/03/2019 11:51

Thank you all, that is really helpful re the temping advice!

@KatBeCool - thank you, I was so convinced that ovulation was definitely 24-36 hours after the positive opk (that it what it says everywhere online!), that we would DTD like mad in the lead up to to the opk, then as soon as I thought I ovulated we'd take a bit of a break for a few days since I know the DTD after day of ovulation isn't likely to result in pregnancy... So if I ovulate later than 36/48 hours after the positive opk then I could have been missing the most fertile days after all! I feel like such an idiot!!

Keep DTD people!! Truth is we would never usually DTD throughout the month as much as is required for TTC, so I was trying to target it for the best days - turns out I'm just really bad at that!

Ps - does anyone else find out really off-putting how Mumsnet puts Darling Twin Daughter in brackets whenever we talk about DTD?!!

AysLon · 28/03/2019 12:01

@Jooloo11 yes definitely lol im still getting the hang of all these acronyms and abbreviations. Have you changed your diet around ovulation? I don't know whether i should, does anyone know if there are certain foods to eat to help? I take the Seven Seas folic acid supplement everyday.

ValidUser · 28/03/2019 12:04

Thanks @FlapJackered @cupcakesandglitter @Lola871 and @everyoneelse! Thrilled.

Apparently the right tube was so big it was blocking my left so we might be in luck!

ValidUser · 28/03/2019 12:05

And @daisiesandpeonies!

Congratulations @PeacockingAbout

SunStruck · 28/03/2019 12:09

@AysLon

I'm using Natural Cycles app. You pay 40 quid for a year and they will send you a thermometer. Need to temp every morning before getting out of bed (it is easy if you work regular hours and usually wake up around the same time everyday).

I have to say that it is really accurate as I'm also using clear blue digital OP kit. I started tempting from October last year though, but it's not until around now it's really accurate (no wonder because my period was messed up after coming off the pill). I highly recommend tempting as well as using OPK to be sure about ovulation!!

My luteal phase seems really short though which I'm worried about (I got my period 7 days DPO last cycle). Currently 4 DPO, hoping I'm not getting my period...

Jooloo11 · 28/03/2019 12:19

Agreed temping is useful, as I discovered today!!

@AysLon - if you Google Harvard Fertility Diet you'll get some info there about what foods to avoid / eat more of. In general though, it follows much of the normal healthy eating advice - lots of fruit and veg, cut down on processed meats/ sugar etc etc. Nothing revolutionary I'm afraid!

PeacockingAbout · 28/03/2019 12:37

Thank you all @Jessikka, @Lottiepink, @BabyO1988, @Jooloo11, @cupcakesandglitter, @thosethreewords, @Flapjackered, @orangeloo, @KateBeCool, @thumper59, @starkid, @MrsAW2018, @ValidUser. Might just be the hormones but make me tear up Smile, I've not told anyone else (other than DH obvs!)

I'll definitely pop my head back in! Smile

@BabyO1988 the main real difference was an ache in my lower back - I usually get period pain there but it was from about 6DPO rather than say, 11 DPO like normal. Also, achy back and body all over last week. More tired and finding it harder to keep a thought in my head, and I think a bit thirstier. Large heavy breasts, which i usually get but there's more 'structure' than usual inside them - they were more 'fuller's than painful, and my nipples are/were tender and I'm very aware of them - almost more aware of the structure that sits underneath them. This is all from about 6/7 DPO. Not really nauseous (yet!)

AysLon · 28/03/2019 13:24

PeacockingAbout thanks that's really useful to know and congratulations!

Hannah192 · 28/03/2019 13:26

@PeacockingAbout omg congratulations!!!! So happy for you! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

Sorry to those that AF has arrived. She’s horrible.

Trying to keep my cool in this tww. Due Sunday. I don’t really feel much different, so I can’t imagine it’ll be a BFP this cycle. I’m tired this week but I think that’s just down to work 😂

Pinksunset1 · 28/03/2019 13:30

@thosethreewords yeah was fab bday gift lol. I’m defo hoping number four is lucky how are you?x

@flaperjackered defo was and played havoc with my hormones. I have been to Awaiting laparoscopy as I have had pelvic pain on going since October. How are you getting on x

@Peacockingabout thanks how are you getting on x

PinkFizz19 · 28/03/2019 13:58

Just catching up from my trip to Disneyland Paris with the girls. Riding rides, trying not to drink too much and secretly hopeful but also expecting AF. She should have showed her ugly face yesterday as my cycle has been 27 days for 2 cycles but I'm now officially late. TMI but "down there " feels like she's coming but had this since yesterday and no signs yet. No symptoms so trying to be realistic. Last time I had this was my first cycle off BC and i had a 32 day cycle so trying not to get my hopes up yet. Go home tomorrow so if nothing by weekend I may test. Mothers Day BFP would be lovely but the other 2 times I've tested AF arrived within the hour 😣

@thosethreewords thank you 😘

@cupcakesandglitter thank you. I hope AF doesn't turn up for you also and you get your BFP 😘

@PeacockingAbout Omg my cycle buddy!! Sooo happy for you. Huge Congratulations!!! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months 😘 My trip is fun thank you. Trying to be realistic that AF is going to show and been riding things and living life normally but secretly wishing she doesn't and I can join you with a BFP. Even dreamed about it last night. Bet i post this and AF comes 😭 keep in touch 💜

Lottiepink · 28/03/2019 14:10

Haha trying to catch up today, lots of convo 😊

@Hannah192 🤞🏻 for you!

@PinkFizz19 ooh what a lovely break you've had, fingers crossed af doesn't arrive 😫😫

@Jooloo11 I'll look at that info on the diet too, thanks 😊

@SunStruck I'm using natural cycles too, it's really good isn't it?! So you have a few temp spikes some cycles or not? I seem to have a few, but not sure why. It's strange I'm on CD19 now and still haven't had my OV, apps now saying Saturday which is late!

@ValidUser hope you are doing ok after the op and 🤞🏻

@MrsAW2018 hope you are ok now and ready for FW 😊 we done SMEP last month and are being more relaxed this cycle 🤞🏻 for us both!

I usually ov around 16-18, but last month it was cd20 and this month I'm in cd19 with not positive OV test... I had stick that was close to positive on cd 16 then other than that just faint lines. Been doing 2/3 a day since CD12 too 🙈🤣
Just not sure if I should be worried my ov is getting later or not...

Hannah192 · 28/03/2019 14:43

@PinkFizz19 🤞🏼 She stays away for you. Good luck if you decide to test.
If I was on a 28 cycle still like the first 2 cycles I’d be due today too, but last month I was 31 days, so I’m sticking with thinking I’m due Sunday. Really trying not to get hopes up as I also don’t think I’ve had any symptoms.
@Lottiepink thank you. Hopefully you will get your positive opk soon 🤞🏼

SunStruck · 28/03/2019 14:47

@Lottiepink yes, after ovulation I get tempspike that lasts until my period comes. This is the progesterone raising the body temp. In your follicular phase temp should be low (under the cover line). It has taken months to get this accurate though and you need to be quite religious with taking temp at same time!

Make sure you put in the app when you get a positive OPK result, it helps the app and makes it more accurate for next time. I use clear blue advanced digital which is great!

BostonFern · 28/03/2019 16:30

Just popped back on, @PeacockingAbout congratulations! Looking forward to seeing you on the grads and ante-natal threads.

Got my 🤞 there's lots more BFPs on this thread!

Lottiepink · 28/03/2019 19:14

@SunStruck sorry I should have a put a spike one day as If ov then back down and up again? I keep thinking when it goes up I've maybe already ov'd but app not showing it.
Been on natural cycles now for 8 cycles. 1-6 were good with an earlier ov around 16 then last one was cd 20 this one predicting cd21. I just don't get why 😫 all other cycles had positive OPK too, but not had one yet. And even when I ov'd later last cycle still had AF at 29 days, which then meant my luteal phase was shorter than normal.... so confusing 🤣🤣

Fivebyfive2 · 28/03/2019 19:26

@PeacockingAbout, woooooo!! Congratulations 🙂

Not much happening here, just waiting for af, but that won't be for about another 2 weeks so just twiddling my thumbs! Trying to enjoy the down time really, as I know once I start trying again I'll go a little crazy with it, at least for a cycle or two!! Probably tmi, but it is so weird having to use protection again!! Especially as it is condoms... Feels like we're 19 again!! Dh is apparently going to try to ensure I don't go too over the top with ttc next month, good luck to him!! It would be lovely to be 'safely' pregnant in time for Christmas so we could tell people. Not sure if that will happen, but it's my little pipe dream for now 🙂

Lola871 · 28/03/2019 19:31

Yay congratulations @PeacockingAbout!! Fab news!

@ValidUser that sounds really positive, hopefully you get your BFP soon.

I'm on CD2 now, I'm quite lucky with AF really, it's generally quite light with mild cramps. I imagine it's doubly tough to deal with if you don't get your BFP then have a horrible AF to deal with too.
