FMU myth?

I keep seeing people recommending using FMU on here but according to Countdown To Pregnancy this seems to give the worst results: www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test/pregnancy-tests-urine-sample.php

I was wondering what people's thoughts are on this? It makes sense to me that if you are testing early then testing later in the day will likely give better results as HCG will have been given longer to build up. Obviously you'd need to do a hold so the urine isn't too dilute...

I found that FMU was always the weakest. Always tested in the evening and got a stronger result 😊

@stuffythedragon me too. People on here seem convinced it's the only way though.

That's really interesting. Thank you for posting! I'm about 12/13 dpo and was waiting to use fmu not on a FRER as I don't have one but maybe I don't need to!

I got negative with fmu felt sure I was pregnant. Got a positive same evening after holding wee and not drinking.
Hcg levels are higher in the evening .

This was at 9dpo.

Surely if you're definitely pregnant it would show positive no matter when 🤷‍♀️

Natural Cycles thinks I'm 11dpo today (though I think I'm a day ahead of that due to other ovulation symptoms) and I had a very feint line on a 10mIU One Step cheapy this morning. Having read this thread after that I just did another one and got the attached - darker than this morning. Hope that helps!

@Michellebops not early on it doesnt. That's the point of the link. If you look it says all those people in the tests went on to be pregnant and shows you the rates of positives at each time and day.

Sorry to hijack you post but my God, does anyone else have trouble pissing on the actual stick?! I have to wee in a pot and dip otherwise I wee all over everything and end up flooding the test and the toilet seat.. and the floor

Anyone got any tips on how to actually wee on the stick itself?!

@kennehora I mean the pregnancy tests that you are meant to hold in your urine stream. Like clearblue and FRER.

Interesting! Will think about using evening urine in the future. How long do people recommend to hold?

Short and sweet you can dip frer and clearblue, surely everyone dips?

So everyone dips rather than wees on it midstream? I was of the imagination that most people would hold the stick midstream and I was only one of the few that dip!

The test knows the difference when I piss on the window and flood the test and make it invalid.

@mydcaremarvel I would have thought the minority dip it, but by these responses it seems everybody dips!

My SIL just wee's on them midstream... even the internet cheapies that are better for dipping! Dont know how she manages that.

Top tip , with the internet cheapies if you rip the top of you can wee in the packaging.

@mydcaremarvel that's a fab idea! Does remind me of the porridge sachets though, tear off the top and fill with milk to the fill line Haha!

@shortandsweet96 yes you are right , Pee So Simple , it would be a great marketing strategy.
