Spotting for 9 days before period arrived - why?

Hey, I have been spotting before my period for over a year now. This cycle I spotted for 9 days before my period arrived. Any ideas why this happens? I’ve read it could be due to low progesterone and B6 can help with that. So I took B6 this cycle and spotted even more than usual. Any thoughts?

I have a 4 year old and have been trying to conceive for two years with a miscarriage a year ago and recent blood tests suggest I have gluten intolerance.

I also have this. Have you have your progesterone tested? It's a simple blood test on day 21. I had this and my progesterone levels were actually high, but my fertility specialist says it "needs to be dealt it". You should definitely get it investigated, periods aren't supposed to have spotting like that.

Thanks MapleandCats. I have asked my doctor and previous doctor if it could be progesterone related and they didn’t think so. I’ve had many blood tests done but I guess they didn’t think there was need to test for progesterone specifically 😟

Honestly, I find most doctors tend to ignore women on a lot of fertility issues. If you have benefits from work, a homeopath can request the testing. It's the same crap so worth a shot. Or get it done privately.

MapleandCats are you taking anything to help stop the spotting? Is it working? I can’t imagine we can get pregnant when our uterine lining is already shedding over a week before period is due.

I am realizing this as well and if another doctor tells me to “just keep trying” as their solution I may freak out on them. I find what keeps me up at night and gets me very angry and emotional is the lack of support and wait times for everything in health care.

You’re told not no google health related issues and yet doctors are doing nothing to help unless you have a medical emergency.

I finally have a gynaecologist/fertility appointment in May and still have to wait a couple months for an ultrasound.

Thanks, good idea to talk with a homeopath!

I feel exactly the same way. A doctor once told me I’m not getting pregnant because I know too much about my vagina. And because I’m not a doctor I don’t have strict deadlines so just keep trying she won’t help me.
I am not taking anything for it as I don’t even know what I would take. The homeopath said it may be stress related.
I find when I exercise more and sleep properly it’s lighter. This month I only had three days and it was the lightest it’s ever been. Just a little brown when wiping.
If you’re not very active you could try that. The fertility doctor did seem concerned so I will let you know what he says.
It also improved once I started thyroid medication. My TSH was 3.8, and 2.5 is optimal. You could get that investigated too if you haven’t already.
I am also just waiting now on results but our appointment is still two months away even though a lot the testing was done.
