7 weeks pregnant after 4 miscarriages

Hi all

I just wanted to get some support please. My sister has been trying to conceive her first baby for 7 years. In the first few years, she was having problems getting pregnant. In the last three years, she managed to get pregnant four times but they all ended in miscarriages at six weeks.

She has had all the NHS tests done, which have come back normal and was booked in to see a specialist next month.

Last week we found out that she is pregnant again and went in for an early scan. They did all the tests and everything seems fine. She is now seven weeks pregnant, which is the furthest along that she has been and I am petrified for her. She has been through so much and I can't bare the thought of her going through all the emotional turmoil again.

Has anyone been in a similar position and gone on to have a healthy baby?

Hi OP. I had 5 miscarriages before 10 weeks, and had a healthy baby 6th time round. All my tests showed nothing wrong except low vitamin D, so consultant said to take Vit D supplements, and I took extra folic acid as well (self-prescribed, just to try something!) But doctors thought it was more luck than anything else.

I think once you get to 8 weeks with a heartbeat your chances of success are really high, have a look on the miscarriage association website, I think it's like 95% chance of success. I know every week feels like a year when you are in this position, so that probably doesn't help this week!

I know everyone's circumstances are different, but just wanted to say that it can happen. After 5 losses, my consultant told me that I was still more likely to have a baby than not. It's such an awful position to be in, I'm so sorry for your sister. It's terrifying to be pregnant after loss. Best of luck to her xx

Thanks so much for your reply. It is so nice to hear a success story, it fills me with so much hope. I am feeling so nervous for her, to the point that every time I get a call from her I am expecting the worst. She's been through so much heartache so I'm really hoping that this is the one.
