Implant Removal & TTC. Advise

GemmaXOX · 21/02/2019 10:54

Hi Folks,
25 & TTC with the Hubby.
Had the Implant for 6 Years taken out at the beginning of the month.

I was told the effects of the Implant might take up to 6 months to wear off, But 2 days after the Implant Removal we DTD. the next day (TMI Warning) there was a completely clear gooey discharge (Sorry if anyones eating at the moment) Grin We DTD again the next day.

well it's been 14 days since and still no AF. Could I be pregnant so quickly? I'm sorry if I sound super stupid but we've literally only just started trying so no idea on when you should test or any related terminology.

Bit of back Storey - on the implant I bled everyday, not a lot but everyday for 6 years so have no idea when a periods is due or not. Since removal I've had absolutely nothing, not a thing!

So Again if anyone can advise what is normal? Or if i'm being Silly and should just wait. I'm Very Confused so please no nasty comments about how dumb I am. But as you can Imagine 6 years with the Implant in has made me very confused about what normal is supposed to be. Any Advise will be much appreciated. Smile

I had ds 9 months and ten days after the implant was taken out!! No period, just a bfp!

GemmaXOX · 21/02/2019 11:03

@Aprilshowersarecomingsoon So Quick! Wow!

If you don't mind me asking when did you do a test? with me not knowing when I'm due for AF I don't know when to do a test? Haha

I think I had an inkling I was pregnant, usually get symptoms early on! Tested a fortnight after removal.

waitingforbaby2 · 21/02/2019 12:35

Good luck I've heard it is possible to fall pregnant straight away you can test two weeks after you have DTD I had the implant out in September after 9 years but no luck yet

GemmaXOX · 21/02/2019 12:56

@waitingforbaby2 ooo good luck to you!

I'm shocked that there are stories of people getting pregnant straight after Implant removal! Feel like the Doctor told some porkies!

waitingforbaby2 · 21/02/2019 13:22

My doctor actually said my fertility could return straight away but I was expecting it to take a little longer as I've been on the implant for 9 years so figured it would take a little time to readjust

Redken24 · 21/02/2019 13:28

When are you due your period? Just go pee on a stick tomorrow morning :)

physicskate · 21/02/2019 13:31

Doctor wasn't telling porkies. Everyone is different. Some people will get regular cycles immediately and others won't. A lot of people who aren't regular immediately complain they weren't warned.

GemmaXOX · 21/02/2019 13:42

Ahh, I see. I don't know when I'm due.

been on the implant for 6 years and bled everyday of it Sad not a lot but spots, which the dr said was okay to continue with it as long as it didn't bother me. So i've not had a proper period for 6 years.

I'm going to get a test tonight and do it in the morning. Smile Fingers Crossed

Hi @GemmaXOX I'd be interested in hearing how you get on. I had the implant in for 2 years and have it removed on Feb 4th. My last period was end of August and prior to that they were random pretty much, I remember one time I was on for a good few weeks at a time!
Have been dtd to ttc baby #3 as that's why I had the implant removed but I've had no period yet so no idea if you can even fall pregnant without it!
Have been taking opk & pregnancy tests but both completely negative! xx

GemmaXOX · 22/02/2019 08:19

@Momof2boyss oo we're kind of in the same boat then!?

So I forgot to get a test last night so going to have to go tonight after work, will keep you updated :D

I know it sounds weird but my body just feels weird like i've never felt before, Sore Boobs, Dizziness, bloated all the time (weird Discharge I've not seen before) and yesterday had a super sharp pain in my lower abdomen that lasted like 5 seconds haha. But not sure if that means i'm pregnant or my hormones are going crazy as they've not been allowed to for 6 years haha.

Coming off hormonal birth control you can get all kinds of symptoms while your body readjusts.
I would get some cheap tests and do one every week or two till your period returns (or you get a positive!) so you know what's going on.

Momof2boyss · 22/02/2019 09:06

I just re read my message I meant my last af was at the end of November not August. But still nothing since then and nothing since having my implant removed.

Defo let me know how you get on @GemmaXOX it would be so good if you got a bfp! I tested again this morning and still all negative.

I had such sore boobs the past week since having it removed & I had an evening of cramping where I thought af was going to come but it didn't - this was just over a week ago.

Who knows what's going on inside our bodies all I know is I want a bfp !!! ☺️ xx

GemmaXOX · 22/02/2019 09:36

@Momof2boyss Ahh I've got my fingers crossed for you! Grin Grin

Any updates??

Bit of story from me had the implanon for 4 and half years had no periods while on the implanon.. got the implanon removed jan 7 this year had an hour of bleeding 24th January and nothing since doing pregnancy test every week and it’s a bfn having been doing the deed nearly every 2nd day I will try ovulation test from April if nothing happens in April..

Starting to get worried that af hasn’t showed up yet?

LKRJM · 02/03/2019 21:31

Hi all, just my two cents here. I had my implant removed at the end of September, and have had 4-5 months of completely irregular cycles, 43 days, 30 days, 43 days, 23 days etc and without them settling I got my BFP this month. The fact you haven’t got your period yet is just your hormones reacting to the removal of the implant more than likely, although agree with the PP about getting some cheap tests to do occasionally until you get a BFP or a period.

I’d give yourself a month after removal if you can just to let your body settle and maybe figure out when you ovulate. Cervical mucus and a helpful app like Flo can help you keep data of your periods and rough ovulation day, the thing you want to look out for is clear egg white cervical mucus (looks like a raw egg white). With this ovulation is probably coming in the next 24-48 hours. We used Pre-Seed lube as normal lubes can basically kill off the sperm, and basically did the ‘sperm meets egg plan’ and got our BFP the first proper month of trying after figuring out my cycle - but this did take October, November, December and January to really figure out and get normal enough that I could tell when I was ovulating etc.

Sorry for the essay but I hope it helps! GL! X

GemmaXOX · 04/03/2019 09:26

@Lou1991 Same boat, I tested twice and its a negative! still no AF yet which has me panicking.

I'm going to give it another month and call the Dr for advice.

@LKRJM thats some brill advise! thank you, I'm already using Flo but have nothing really to track as of yet. Thanks for the tips never really know what I'm meant to be looking for
