Thick uterus lining? What does that mean?

Hi, apologies if I'm asking a stupid question.

I'm 21, have had problems in past unrelated to AF that meant I was referred for a colposcopy. Ended up not getting one due to typical appointment changes etc etc, so still trying to get a colposcopy or smear sorted. Anyway, they gave me an internal scan instead - have had them a lot and never any comment other than that I have a mild bicornuate uterus.

This time doctor mentioned that my lining is thick and I will likely be on my period soon even though I wasn't near due on, and 8 days later and no sign of bleeding, should I be worried? Should the lining always be thick pre-ovulation?

Thank you for any help.
