Is this leftover hormone or positive test?

Hi there,
4 weeks ago I lost a baby at 21 weeks.

After 2 weeks my partner and I had unprotected sex.
Today I used a pregnancy test and I believe it is showing up as a faint positive....
My question is does anyone think this is leftover hormones or actually the early positive of a new pregnancy?
Can that even happen after two weeks....? 🙃
Thanks!

So sorry for your loss, so sad and difficult to go through something like that.

Did you do any pregnancy tests after you lost the baby which came back negative? This would potentially indicate that the hormone did leave your body and this is now a new pregnancy.

I think it is definitely possible, I have heard of other people ovulating soon after a miscarriage and getting pregnant again. But I don't want to give you false hope as I also know it can sometimes take a very long time for the hormone to totally leave your body after miscarriage, it can also be an indication of some retained product. Have you had a scan to make sure there was nothing left?

If you test again in a couple of days and it gets darker I would definitely be straight in the phone to the midwife and EPU for a scan.

Wish you lots of luck and I hope your rainbow baby is on the way xxx
