Anyone had this before? Backwards FRER

I am 5+1 today and have already had two positive tests, but after two miscarriages I am very nervous so decided to do another FRER today just to check!

The test line started coming up before the control and went really dark, and the control line is really faint so it's as if the test is backwards?! Has anyone had this before and is it a faulty test or just high HCG somehow making the test line steal all the dye? I am now worrying that the HCG is too high if that is even a thing. Here's the pic:

Stop taking tests. You're pregnant. Is it possible you're more like 9 weeks?

Karigan195 · 19/02/2019 07:59

There’s only so much dye in the stick. When the hcg gets high as it will be at 5+ it takes from the control line.

Stop testing and relax. You’re definitely pregnant

Ps here’s mine as I didn’t realise I was late so tested at around 5/6 days late. Going the same way

Sorry didn’t attach. 12 weeks now btw

Congratulations on your BFP. The last time I saw a FRER result like that the person was expecting twins. Or could you be further on than 5 weeks?

Newyearsameoldshit · 19/02/2019 12:21

FRERs detect HGC as low as 6.5ml, you are likely in the hundreds or even thousands at 5+ weeks so will get a very strong positive. Don't panic!

Thank you all for the replies, it is reassuring to know it is normal.
Karigan195 congratulations on your pregnancy and glad to know you had the same thing and all was fine.

physicskate windy2909 I am pretty sure I'm 5 weeks as I only started getting symptoms in the last week, and I had a period in Jan (or I think I did!). I will go to the EPU for a reassurance scan around 7 weeks so will find out some more then, but it is a long two weeks!
