Egg white cervical mucus and ovulation

Hi everyone. DH and I are trying to conceive our first and we’re on cycle 2 at the moment.

According to all of my period tracking apps, I was due to have ovulated on Wednesday (cd 18) or Thursday (cd 19) though I realise these aren’t always accurate!

I had egg white mucus for the first time this cycle on Monday (cd 16) and had no more through the week until today (cd 21) when I had two big lots of it! My cycles are normally around 32 days.

My question is, is it possible to have this cm after ovulation? Is it possible that i ovulated in the week but am still getting this discharge?

We dtd Wednesday (cd 18) and Thursday (cd 19) but I’m now worried I’ve missed my chance as we didn’t dtd today or last night

EWCM is a guarantee that you have actually ovulated. It is possible that your body was preparing to ovulate, but didn't the first time and so you got the EWCM a second time. I think after ovulation, CM is generally supposed to turn creamy or dry up, athough of course not everyone is the same. I hope that makes sense!

Sperm can live up to 5 days, so you should still be covered if you have ovulated today. Your egg survives for up to 12-24 hours, so it is still possible to conceive just after ovulation too.

Good luck

Thank you! Aaah I do wish it was just straightforward and stress free but bodies are so changeable

My boobs have been quite tender today and sore to press on if that helps? Started today since the CM and haven’t had it previously

Having the same thing this cycle @Ooar! I always have alot of cm but it normally changes to "lotion type" (as Ovia calls it) at ovulation. It first started 11 days ago and hasnt stopped yet, im now 3dpo. Hopefully its a good sign for us!

So glad to have someone in the same boat!!

So odd for me to have so much EWCM at 2/3dpo. Although I’ve only just started trying with DH, I’ve been tracking my periods and symptoms for a long time so I know that I ovulate around cd 19 most cycles....but I’ve been completely thrown off by the discharge!! Fingers crossed for you

Sorry I meant to say EWCM is no guarantee that you have ovulated Blush

It's thought that 2 days before you ovulate is your most fertile day. The egg starts to breakdown shortly after it's released but sperm can survive about 5 days. What you really want is sperm ready and waiting at the moment of ovulation! Sounds like you've timed it just right!

Just to say, I never noticed any ewcm during my cycle and convinced myself i couldnt be but I am now pregnant. I found OPKs very useful in making me aware when ovulation was likely to occur alongside temping to confirm it and got my BFP first cycle. Very lucky.

Oooo thank you @onlyinanemergency !!

Trying not to get my hopes up just yet of course and I know it’s far too early to look for any symptoms but it’s so hard! Boobs are tender today again so hopefully that means I have ovulated!

@Ooar, Thank you! Hoping this is your bfp month too!
Its very strange for me too. Will be interesting to see if it was a good sign and we get bfp! Only another week to wait to find out lol
