Hi guys can anyone console me. I didn’t find out I was pregnant until 25weeks- pcos and overweight. I am worried sick as I’ve been drinking most weekends for the 25 weeks I didn’t know I was pregnant! At most a bottle of wine every Saturday night- never too drunk but definitely tipsy. I’m terrified my baby will have FAS. Has this happened to anyone else and have they had a healthy baby? I have had a scan and explained to my OB, all looks fine on my scan but he said we really won't know until baby is here

My friend didn't know she was pregnant (on pill with no breaks so didn't have periods to miss). And was regularly drinking at weekends and evenings until 16 weeks. She gave birth to a very healthy happy boy a year ago. If you're still concerned you could speak to your Dr and ask.if there's any tests they could do? Not sure if that helps, also congrats.

Yes I was in that boat. Terrified about FAS. Found out at about 12 weeks but drank a lot no knowing. Begged Dr for tests but he just tested my liver. IT'S NOT ME I AM WORRIED ABOUT I wanted to scream...

My baby was perfect and I know yours will be. FAS is associated with alcoholic mothers and even then it's not given.

I would put my life savings on your baby not having FAS. But I understand your worry. Flowers

Thanks guys. Maybe I'm overreacting a bit, I've been thinking and I know I was extremely drunk at a wedding when I would have been around 9/10 weeks.😰. Apart from that I was never extremely drunk and wouldn't have been drinking every weekend either when I have a proper think about it. A bottle of wine some Saturday nights over a 5-6 hour period. Here's hoping all is ok

Biggest risk is miscarriage and that's not happened and extremely unlikely now you are 25 wks and not drinking. All will be well OP. Enjoy your beautiful baby.

I was drinking while ttc. And I drank throughout my pregnancy. A lot less than normal and weaker drinks than usual (a small measure of spirit with a lot of mixer, or a small wine topped up with lemonade), but I still did.
I had no problems at all and will do the same in future. I know I'll be judged but I really don't care tbh.
My mum drank through all her pregnancies, and I know others who have as well. All with no problems.

Just to put your mind at rest OP, am aquaintance of mine is a functioning alcoholic and has been for over fifteen years.
She has five perfectly healthy children aged from 14 to 2.
She drank every day to the point of being at least tipsy.

I too would bet my mortgage that your baby is absolutely fine, please enjoy your pregnancy from here on in Flowers
