Hii

I'm a tad confused with dates. If I've DTD a week after ovulation and become pregnant. What's my conception date.... the midwife would count from last period therefore making me further along than I actually am...
Is this right or am I talking nonsense Haha.

It's unlikely you got pregnant a week after ovulation. More likely is you got your ovulation date wrong.

Yes, the midwife will initially calculate your due date and gestation based on first day of last period. But at your 12-week scan they will redate everything based on the foetus's size. So if you have long cycles, your due date will probably get set back at the scan.

The 40 weeks they talk about always starts from the first day of your last period, so by the time you actually “conceive” you are medically deemed to be 2 weeks pregnant. It’s weird but it’s just how they do it!

You can't dtd a week after ovulation and become pregnant, the egg is only viable for about 24 hours so the latest you can conceive is the next day or so.

Sounds like maybe you ovulated late?
The midwife will go by last period, then they may move your date at the scan.

I ovulated a week late, so when I had an early scan I was 8 weeks, instead of the 9 weeks expected counting from last period.
