So, please try to be kind, I’m newish to TTC and this is my second month. No luck last month, this month I’ve struggled to figure out when I ovulated. I assumed the 7th due to all apps, EWCM etc all adding up. I’ve tried BBT this cycle aswell, the 7th I though added up? But might also be the 1st? Anyway, I’ve just took this test, I know I’ve opened it, only done as I couldn’t believe my eyes, but the line was there before and have pics of that too. But do you think this is a faint positive or just a strong evap. It appeared within a minute and it does have some colour. Obviously this would mean I didn’t ovulate on the 7th I assume, I will retest in the morning with a FRER, just confused as hell!

With charting and BBT, your temperature should be a steady (lowest) when on your period, and just after. You then get a "sharp" rise just after ovulation and your temperature stays "high" until your period when it drops again (or goes up again "higher" if you are pregnant).

Should look like the top chart here fourflowerswellness.com/charting-basal-body-temperature/

That chart of your doesn't really look "right" . I would check your temperature taking method, so immediately after waking before moving. You will get the odd outlier but it does usually work. (you also could have been ill as slightly raised temperature does affect the charts). You also need to take temperature every day to get a good picture.

Assuming chart is right I would dismiss the first 3 readings, then assume ovulation on 7th in which case too soon to see a +ve or possibly 4th, in which case you may see a faint positive, so try again tomorrow.

Assuming chart is wrong, then to test again is the only way to go.

Thanks so much for the advice, I have been taking first thing around 6am as that’s when I get up for work. I temp straight away before moving orally, is this not the best way? I did think it looked a little off from the ones I’ve looked at before but couldn’t determine why. My thermometer isn’t a cheapy but not the most expensive one either would you maybe suggest getting a better one if this is a false pos/evap. I only got the thermometer the day I took my first temp on the chart above so couldn’t tell my temps on my period.

Sorry to bombard you but that’s such a great reply you obviously know your stuff. Thanks again for your reply.

I got slightly obsessed with it when I had my kids! They are older now, but it works fine as a method.

I got some very clear charts, and the interesting thing is I managed to identify a day in the month when I "always" got a headache - I hadn't twigged before my migrane was linked to my cycle. Confused

Temperature taking method sounds fine, so I think all you now need is to try it for another month and you'll start to see patterns - unless you are pg!

Where do you get the charts from?

LKRJM · 13/02/2019 09:29

Well I got a BFN this morning with fmu so assuming it was a dud test yesterday or a really strong evap line that appeared quickly. I’ll keep temping and see what happens, thank you so much for all your help!

The chart I used is off an app called Flo. I log it on there Flowers

Hey @LKRJM! I'm new to BBT too and this is my first month. I've attached my chart for comparison. Yellow dot is supposed ovulation. I'm DPO 12 today and BFN this morning still. I've had some light brown spotting this morning but its stopped now. I think it could just be AF on her way though so who knows whats going on!

Sorry I can't be much help! x

Thanks for that @MrsRLM

I think I’m just going to stick with it and see if I can get a more regular one, this is only month 1 of charting. Yours looks completely different to mine and I think if mine stays up and down I’ll invest in a better thermometer. Has AF arrived yet?

Good luck to you x

@LKRJM AF has landed this morning. Here's my final chart for the month. This morning temp was 36.36 so dipped just below the cover line (but started a new cycle so is on a new chart)

Sorry to hear about AFs arrival. Can I ask what chart/app you’re using?

Fingers crossed for next month x

@LKRJM I use the Femometer thermometer and app. You can use the app without the thermometer if you already have one

Chuktuk009 · 11/03/2019 10:23

MrsRLM · 11/03/2019 10:38

@Chuktuk009 my temps didn't drop until the day after I came on. Your chart looks pretty normal to me.
