Extremely low sperm count

I am desperately seeking advice from ANYONE who has been in my position.

After 4 months waiting for results we were told friday my husbands sperm count showed a count of 16 (yes no millions 16 as in ten add 6) sperm in test one and 30 sperm in test two. Next step is one more test being sent away to see if the very small amount is suitable for ICSI not ivf and if not our dreams of being parents are over.

Has anyone experienced this and if so What happened ? We r beyond devastated but regardless of outcome would love to know it story .

Hi Ronron, my husband had a vasectomy during his 1st marriage, got divorced, met me, fell in love, married, had vasectomy reversed, but it didn't work very well. He was left with a very very low sperm count.
We had icsi & it worked 1st time for us & we ended up with an incredible little boy.
Never ever give up hope xx

Hi RonRon1

My DH had a zero sperm count.

DH had a surgical sperm retrieval, where they found spee. We had a round of IVF with ICSi which sadly didn't work for as.

We spent a bit of time researching consultants privately, and came across a fantastic urologist on London. He operated on DH - DH now has a normal sperm count. I'm 17 weeks pregnant with out first child.

I hope that gives you some hope. Smile

Hi OP. My husband had a very very low sperm count too. We had ICSI. Only takes 1! We had 3 goes at ICSI. 3 pregnancies and 2 babies later all the stress is forgotten. This was circa 2006 - 2010 and I’m sure fertility clinics have become even better at what they do since then. There’s always surgical sperm retrieval too like the previous reply mentioned. I also had fertility issues myself with being born with one ovary and endometriosis! I thought we would never have children but we have two lovely healthy happy DS. It’s s tough journey but you’ll get there.

That’s great news Smile. So happy for you. Good luck with ICSI. Just to let you know I only had 3 eggs retrieved the first time. Got pregnant! 2nd go we had 5 eggs. Got pregnant but MC at 6 weeks Sad. 3 eggs on the 3rd go. Got pregnant. Like I said before we have 2 DS via ICSI. So don’t get too invested in numbers as I did and was convinced it wouldn’t work as others on a fertility forum I was following were having a lot more eggs than me retrieved. It’s all about quality not quantity. Keep us informed on how it all goes. SmileFlowers
