Hi all
Been ttc for 14 months now. Went to doctors and had various blood tests over the last year as had irregular cycled and diagnosis with PCOS. Was about to be referred fertility clinic and doctor said oh wait need to do 2 more bloods 🙄 one of them was a rubella test. Turns out I'm not immune to it! And need to have another immunisation maybe even 2 before we will get referred oh and we have to stop TTC for those two months. I'm so frustrated!!

Just wanted to warn you all to go get this test done as I'm feeling so frustrated and down at the thought of now being delayed by 2 months when I just felt like we are about to get some help!

I'm so angry with my doctors for not doing this test in my first appointment when I told them I'm now trying for a baby! They checked my folic acid and other vitamins but not that!! Despite having read now it should be done as part of the pre conception tests!!

They used to test for it once you got pregnant at your first midwife visit but stopped doing it unless you never had the MMR vaccine as a child - do you mean you're not immune even though you had the jab? Sorry you now have to wait, must be so frustrating!

No I had the jab and the boosters. I've been reading about it and apparently some people are never immune even with the vaccination but as most of the general public are immune the risks are so low. Need to speak to my doctor about whether it's going to be a pointless wait if I'm not ever going to be immune anyway.

I never had the jab, and so was tested. Turns out I'm immune, must have caught it sometime in my childhood. But - it turns out I was NOT immune to chicken pox, so I had to delay trying to conceive until I had the immunisation for that. My DM thought I had had it, but who knows?! Apparently there are a number of viruses that resemble mild chicken pox and so you can never be completely sure.

@ehlania that's strange but good you got it checked out hopefully before being too far down the line of TTC

Good luck!

Oh that was ages ago, the DC we were trying for is now 11 years old!! Don't normally post on the conception board but your post flashed up on recent posts.
