When does cycle date from after miscarriage

I have just finished bleeding after my miscarriage and we’re keen to start ttc again. I know cycles can be messed up after a miscarriage but I’m confused as to when I should actually be dating the start of it from as my miscarriage lasted almost 3 weeks in total.

I started spotting on 12 Jan, and a scan on the 14th showed the baby had stopped developing a few weeks beforehand. I started bleeding heavily the next day which lasted over a week, and I’m pretty sure I passed the sac on the 22 January (two weeks ago). I then had a couple more days of heavy bleeding followed by another week of light bleeding and spotting. It’s completely stopped now and I took a pregnancy test on Sunday which came back negative.

So my question is - did my cycle start on the day I started bleeding or the day I finished bleeding? Or was it from the day I passed the sac? I can’t seem to find a straightforward answer to this anywhere.

@Dbrook I am so sorry for your loss. I know how awful it is to go through a MMC. I was told to treat the MC as an AF. So to date the start of your cycle from the first day you begin to bleed. Hope this helps X

Yes, date your miscarriage as a normal period. You can expect your cycle to happen about a month after the beginning of the bleeding .
