Is there any point taking another test?

Hi all, so my period is three days late. I have taken 2 IC but not even a hint of a line.
I checked the reviews on eBay and some people were saying they are rubbish/ not as sensitive as they claim.

I've just gone and bought a £12 clear blue digital. Is there any point or am I just wasting my money?

WWYD?

Did you track your ovulation? I'd say if your luteal phase is longer than normal then take the test - if you're not sure when you ovulated then wait till the day after your longest ever cycle and test then. Good luck!

I'm in the same position, period late but no line. I tried a digital but "not pregnant". I thought I knew when I ovulated but clearly not! Or maybe my luteal phase is just deciding to be longer than usual.

Thanks for replying. I thought I knew but I'm only going by the Flo app do it might not be 100%

The First Response tests are better than Clearblue digital - they are really not very sensitive.
If a FRER doesn't show +ve then I'd trust that result - not a Clearblue.

Yes I agree, get a first response if you can. If you're only going on dates though then maybe you ovulated a bit later than usual so you could expect your period to come later as well.

Ah ok thanks all. I wish I'd posted this before going to the shop!

It’s all about the sensitivity, some internet cheapies are v sensitive. Clear Blue isn’t. Using first wee of day might help.

CityGirl89 · 05/02/2019 12:56

Ok so I couldn't help myself and took the clear blue. It said "not pregnant" but when I cracked it open (I know) there's a faint second line.

My phone camera is shocking but can anyone else see it? What does this mean? Is it meant to look like this? I'm so confused.

Is there any point taking another test?

The digitals always have lines inside, sorry. I think they have three strong lines inside when they’re positive.

CityGirl89 · 05/02/2019 13:08

Yeah that's what I thought Indiana, but there's some conflicting info online. I need to step away from the tests haha

Ah that sucks, sorry it was negative. When I've taken them apart they always have that second line.

You may still turn out to be pregnant though, perhaps you ovulated a bit late or have a slow hcg rise.

CityGirl89 · 05/02/2019 13:32

Thanks Kin.

It's so hard not to get your hopes up!

I know! I was so hopeful and positive this morning cause my period was late and it's never been late. Then the test was negative and it sucked.

I'm sure AF will show up soon enough but until then I won't be able to let go of this last shred of hope for this cycle!

Hi @CityGirl89 I just thought i'd let you know my experience from when I was trying with my son.

I used an app for a few months and once I entered all my data it said that I was ovulating on CD14, so I would DTD around CD13-16/17

After a few months I decided to buy some ovulation tests and it turns out I ovulate on CD18 Shock
I got pregnant with my son the first month of using them.

This time around I have def use the ovulation tests, and im on the 2nd cycle and both have tested positive on CD17 meaning I ovulate around CD18/19.

I use Flo app as a guide but I use the ovulation tests to know exactly when I ovulate.

Hopefully you wont need to do that and you get your BFP soon Smile xxxx

mrsk28 · 05/02/2019 13:51

I used the Flo app too when TTC and it wasn't in line with when I actually ovulated. I would always ovulate around day 17-19 and assumed I ovulated around day 14.

Maybe try a FRER test tomorrow and if it's still negative then try ovulation tests next cycle.
