Is it true you’re more fertile for a few months after having a baby

I had a baby three months ago, and we want to start trying for number 2 🙈🙈
It took 9 months to get pregnant with DD and had a miscarriage prior to having her. With our ages we don’t want to wait, and if I got pregnant in the next 6 months it would work well with my return to work etc.

Anyway, I know I’m crazy, and I’m sure people will say to wait, but I wanted to ask what people’s experiences are with ttc after a baby. I have a friend who got pregnant quickly after her first baby who she tried for over 2 years to conceive, and a colleague who is struggling to have baby number 2 after falling pregnant easily with her first.
Have other people found themselves more fertile after having first baby?

Apparently you are because your body is still in pregnant mode, the only concern I'd have is that your body hasn't had time to recover so another pregnancy so soon might be harder but then again, it may not.

If it's something you really want, go for it xx

Give it a shot, I fell pregnant within 3 months after giving birth - twice! My two are 12 mths apart and #3 was unfortunately stillborn at 20wks due to an infected tooth I had, but that was 5 months ago and sure enough I’m now 6wks pregnant again. So there’s something to it!

I had IVF with my first for unexplained infertility after years of trying. PG first month trying after period restarted! 18 month gap - hard to start with but v easy now at school!

Having two very young children is pretty hard work though

My doctor with both pregnancies told me that as I was breast feeding it was a natural form of contraceptive. It wasn't. Got pregnant again very fast.

I found that I got pregnant very quickly after my miscarriage (tried for 8 months to get pregnant prior to that, then pregnant 3 weeks after miscarriage)

Eeek, let’s see what happens then! If I am back here in a year crying about having two babies a year apart (God willing) you can tell me you told me so!
