Trying to conceive

Hi everyone,
I’m very new to this site so slightly nervous about poating for the first time. I don’t fully under abbreviations so sorry if I ask what you mean.
So my last period finished on the 15th of January and my fertile window was between 26th and the 31st and I’m due on on the 12th of feb. This is my first time trying to conceive so still trying to get my head around things. Ive been spotting for the past couple of days when I wipe. I just wondered if this was normal? Or should I rule out being pregnant? And try next month. Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome :)

If you count day 1 as the first day of your period, how long do your cycles normally last?

Do you know when you ovulated?

Spotting can occour any time of the cycle, sometimes it's noticable during ovulation (mid-cycle) but you can get implantation spotting too. This would usually happen when your period is due, which is still a way off if you're due on the 12th.

I'd be BD as much as possible still if I was you, and hoping AF doesn't show on the 12th! :)

Hi Enta,

Thank you for replying. I think my cycle is 35 days. I’m not sure when I actually ovulated as I don’t use the ovulation kits. But I would probably say it was more to the end of my fertile window. Would you still be trying to BD even if I am out of my fertile window?

Thanks

The thing is, without knowing for sure that you've ovulated, and knowing you have a long cycle, I wouldn't want to potentially miss ovulation and would definitely be having sex at least every other day, just in case!

Do you have any other signs of ovulation such as stretchy, clear discharge? This egg-white discharge is a good sign of ovulation, but isn't definitive proof as such.

If your cycle is 35 days and (as a general guide) on average you will ovulate 14 days before your period, you'll be ovulating around cycle day 20-21, so this would have been a couple of days ago.

It would definitely be too early for implantation spotting, but your spotting could have been ovulation related.

Are your cycles quite regular?

I’m 99% sure I’ve already ovulated as I’ve had all the signs of ovulation.

My period cycle is usually regular. I usually have spotting a few days before my period is due but like I’ve said I’m not actually due till the 12th that’s why I’m a little confused as to what it may be and if to rule of conception. Thanks for the info xx

Spotting doesn't rule out conception. It could be from ovulation, implantation, or some people just spot in the latter part of their cycle.
