Were your early symptoms the same every pregnancy?

Possibility of conception this month (I'm mid 40s... older children are teens... bit of a crazy last-chance-saloon impulse with DH).

Haven't yet missed AF (not due for another couple of days). Early test this morning was negative.

BUT

loads of relaxin in my system (can feel it)
bloated, crampy, can't do up trousers comfortably (which is like a previous pregnancy, and it's NEVER this acute pre-AF)
possibility of implantation bleed this morning (tiny amount of foamy pink)

but other things aren't like last time (no tender, hard breasts; I'm feeling loss of appetite and nausea, and don't remember that from previous pregancies this ridiculously early)

Whenever I see threads like this, I think smugly "oh be rational, just wait and see, and you'll either be pregnant or you'll discover you aren't, time will tell" but now, obviously, I'm symptom spotting like mad.

People who've been pregnant more than once, especially if you've been pregnant in your 40s: were the early symptoms always the same? the lack of painful breasts is almost enough to make me think I'm definitely not pregnant, because that was a feature on the previous occasions.

(little bit scared of chemical pregnancy, too, being old enough that my eggs and his sperm are probably sub-standard...)

I'm probably not much help but interested to see other responses.

I have been pregnant twice, once 2 years ago and once a few months ago. 1st pregnancy was successful and first sighs apart from "just knowing" we're cramps, a tiny tiny tiny brown dot of spotting, and then in later weeks nausea, vomiting every now and again, a sudden aversion to smokey BBQ type food and sweet things.

My next pregnancy ended in MC about 8 weeks we think although possibly a bit further along. From the beginning I just felt really dizzy and this went on until the MC was over. It was quite weird and made me concerned but since the baby grew to 6 weeks size I think the dizziness was a genuine pregnancy symptom to start.

So for me different each time although my MC pregnancy obviously could have been different because something was wrong.

Anyway, hope you get your BFP! Good luck xxx

Thank you! I felt like I "just knew" a couple of days ago, and now I feel like it's just bloat and trapped wind.

I was first pregnant in my late 20s and didn't experience any early symptoms at all, the same with my second pregnancy at the start of my 30s. I had honorific nausea when smelling cigarette smoke a bit later on in my pregnancies.

Third pregnancy early 30s we weren't trying and were using condoms with no slip ups. A week before my period was due I got horrific sciatica (I'd had it really badly in previous pregnancies - from 5 weeks with my second), my nipples were sore and I was walking past the pub and someone was smoking and I was sick. It occurred to me that I might be pregnant but shrugged it off as we'd been so careful. A few days later when I was feeling really rough I tested positive. So not exactly a repeat of previous times but I certainly had a strong inkling.

I should have said @ChikiTIKI I am so sorry for your loss

Thanks @oopscrikey

I don't think I had any real physical symptoms until after my BFP.

I suppose some people have pregnancies with severe sickness and then go on to have a pregnancy with very little sickness so each time can be different.

When are you next going to test?

oopscrikey · 03/02/2019 17:39

AF due on about Tuesday (I never tested this early in previous pregnancies - it's all just a bit of a shock with me being so old :) ). AF is always on time or a bit early; I don't think it's been a cycle longer than 28 days for about five years. I'm not going to let myself test until next Sunday, when AF will be five days late (by which point the test is just a formality really)

I definitely had symptoms before testing in my "normal" late 20s/early 30s pregnancies. With one of them, I knew I'd conceived within 48 hours (couldn't do trousers up - couldn't bear pressure around belly, like now) but I can't remember whether that was the only symptom or whether I also had sore nipples etc. I remember THAT symptom vividly with a different pregnancy, though. Should have kept a diary!

I've picked up on it earlier each time. So whilst with DC1 I didn't feel much until I had missed a period, by DC3 my body seemed hormonal and pregnant almost straight away.

Daisypod · 03/02/2019 19:49

That's strange @MaverickSnoopy as at 4dpo I developed terrible sciatica! It is about gone now thankfully.
I am 43 now and 8dpo but I have a stinking cold so yes nipples are sore but so is every other part of me! Food doesn't taste right and I have a weird taste in my mouth but again could quite easily be attributed to the cold Confused
I was pregnant last year but sadly miscarried at 8 weeks. I don't know how early my symptoms started as we weren't trying at the time so I didn't test until about 5 weeks although by that time I definitely had the sore big boobs and change of taste.

Any news @oopscrikey ?

oopscrikey · 05/02/2019 19:52

AF arrived this morning.

Maybe there was an egg that fertilized, but it wasn't up to scratch.

Ah well! (feeling phlegmatic about it - at my age, I can't exactly expect to get pregnant the first time I have unprotected sex!)

Thank you for thinking of me! Not sure whether to get over to the conception threads, or to treat the whole thing as a mid-life crisis ;)
