Ovulation test positive, Pregnancy test negative

Hi there,
I've been having brown spotting since 11DPO. By spotting, I mean that it's very little and no need really even for a pad. I'm now 16 DPO on a 28 day cycle meaning AF was due 2 days ago. Anyway, I tried an ovulation test strip which gave me a very strong positive. I double checked by using another and had the same result. I thought I'd try a pregnancy test as have never had this before and it was a BFN. I wasn't using fmu for any of the tests. Anyone have any idea what's going on please? It was a First Response test. Thanks

It's not unusual to get an LH surge shortly before your period, your period could just be slightly late. I would try and give it a day or 2 and if still no period try a pregnancy test using FMU

Good luck! As you may know OPKs can pick up pregnancy as well, but it would be a bit weird for an OPK to pick up pregnancy and a HPT not to. But fingers crossed!
