Chemical pregnancy

So I took a positive pregnancy test 3 days ago, I took 3 different types ... clear blue, frer and IC's all positive! So pretty certain I am pregnant!
However yesterday morning I started bleeding, fairly heavy but not like a normal period.
I took another test today and still as positive as the previous ones!
I'm starting to think I've had a chemic pregnancy. This wasn't planned it my hormones seem all over the place and I feel like rubbish!
Anyone experienced This before and how long until your tests were negative?

That happened to my friend. She thought she'd got her period so went out and got drunk to cheer herself up. Then found out 2 weeks later she was pregnant...

TTCVickster · 01/02/2019 23:20

When I had my 2 both times the test was fading before the bleed started so it may not necessarily be a chemical, try not to panic!

Jellybellymoo · 01/02/2019 23:24

Thank you ladies,

I've just taken another cheap test and it's darker than yesterday's. I've lost a lot of blood though and some tissue (sorry far too much info) I don't see how a pregnancy can still be viable after that but why is the test getting darker?
Wow the test only get lighter if I had lost the baby?

I would go to the gp on this one. As vickster said, from what i've heard of cp and was certainly true for mine, the tests tend to start off faint and get fainter or fail to darken before af arrives slightly late. My bfp turned negative very quickly afterwards.

I think the gp would be more than happy ro see you on this one. There could be a number of reasons for bleeding

TTCVickster · 02/02/2019 10:33

It could have been a twin pregnancy maybe and so hormones are still getting stronger.

Jellybellymoo · 04/02/2019 20:50

Thank you for your advice ... I have continued to take some more cheap tests and each of them have become much darker since bleeding started!
I called the GP today and they have booked me an appointment in the EPU on weds for a scan. They seem to think I've likely miscarried but maybe some of the tissue has remained which is why my tests are getting darker! Such a confusing time, hoping I get some answers soon. Xx

I didn't consider the possibility of a twin pregnancy vickster that's interesting. Not sure they will even pick anything up on a scan though as I'll only be around 4 weeks 5 days. Xx

Hi op. Sorry about what you’re going through. I was still testing positive 4 weeks after my CP last year. It just took ages for my levels to drop. EPU confirmed miscarriage when I went for a scan when I should’ve been 6 weeks pregnant. It was a horrible time and I’m hoping you get answers sooner xx

Jellybellymoo · 05/02/2019 23:25

Thank you mummytoboy, I'm not holding out much hope to be honest. I bled quite a lot so I'm expecting the worst. It's just frustrating waiting for answers isn't it. I have my scan tomorrow so I guess we will see what the result of that is. Many thanks for your support ladies. This is such an amazing group and your all so supportive xx

Sorry to read this, the worst thing is the not knowing in early pregnancy.
MC is likely but not a certainty, you may be in for a difficult couple of weeks to be sure as they may not see anything on scan to confirm one way or another, big sympathies with the waiting game.

I think in some ways it was easier for my grandma’s gen-they had to miss 3 periods to be confirmed pg! Much less worry.

Mummytoboyxx · 06/02/2019 17:35

@Jellybellymoo how did your scan go today? Xx

Jellybellymoo · 06/02/2019 20:30

Your right Megan- we find out far too early these days that we are pregnant and wouldn't necessarily know if it wasn't for the sensitive tests!

I went for scan today, they couldn't see anything at all, I would be 4 weeks 5 days so not sure they would pick that up anyway? They seem to believe ive miscarried but need to rule out ectopic I had bloods today and my hcg was 82, due to have them repeated on Friday so all in all its not looking good! Thank you all for kind words and support, I'll keep you posted xx

I was going a bit out of my mind yesterday just wanting some answers so I brought a cbd test and it was pregnant 1-2 weeks - it's cruel how your body makes you still feel pregnant too, my boobs are so sore! I guess I will wait to see if the hcg has increased Friday, if it's dropped then I know the result xx

I had a chemical pregnancy last month at around 5 weeks. My pregnancy tests pretty much turned negative straight after the bleeding but had only been lightly positive anyway. (it takes me a long time after missed period to get a strong pregnancy test). I had to wait until I would have been 6 weeks for them to scan and see if anything was left / there. Good luck with finding out you HCG levels

MrsMummyoftwo · 07/02/2019 18:50

I did 4 pregnancy tests last week, all positive, including the clear blue stating I was pregnant. But of spotting yesterday, not tests show negative. 2 days of very minor spotting but doctor says I'm not pregnant now. Just got to wait and see if my period starts, if it doesn't they'll refer me to EPU but dr said probably bit early (I'm about 5 weeks)
Sorry you're going through this too. Quite upsetting. X

Jellybellymoo · 07/02/2019 20:31

Working progress mum - sorry to hear about your CP, they are just so awful and cruel! My tests did get quite dark in the end so I did wonder if it was a chemical. However I decided to take another one this morning and it is soo much fainter than previous ones so I'm pretty sure I lost the baby with all the bleeding but blood test will confirm tomorrow.

Mummy of two - sorry your going through this too, if it's any consolation I lost a lot more than just spotting and some spotting can be normal in early pregnancy so it's not over yet. I would definitely insist you have a scan in a week though if your tests are still positive. It really messes with your emotions doesn't it. Thinking of you xx
