10 day luteal phase and ttc

Hi ladies, I’ve been doing opks for three months and have realised my luteal phase is only 10 days long. I think this maybe on the cusp of normal. Do you know if that is considered long enough to sustain a pregnancy? I feel like it reduces my chances of getting pregnant because I know implantation can take place up until 12dpo. I’m considering having a word with the GP but really don’t want to waste their time. Does anybody kindly have any tips for lengthening it? Or anybody else with a shorter luteal phase who can shed some light on this? Thank you

Hi op, I’m no expert (although I’ve probably read everything on fertility that Dr Google has to offer up) but have read that vitamin C is good for lengthening LP. Also I believe that the herb Agnus Castus is good too. HTH

Sorry meant to say, these are recommended as they boost progesterone which sustains your LP. Low progesterone can be a cause of a short LP.

I have a 10 day LP and have had two children. I'm not sure it's as big a deal as the internet would make you think, my GP looked at me like I was mad when I mentioned it!

Thank you so much for your reply @littlemimosa I am going to start taking vitamin b6 and complex and I will also take vitamin c as well. I’ve been having some spotting sometimes just after ovulation and sometimes a week before it. I definitely think I may be deficient in progesterone.

Thanks @mistermagpie you’re right when I looked online it completely panicked me! I have one dc and conceived him without any problem but dr google told me that your cycle can change after having children! I don’t know what my luteal phase was before ds because i wasn’t charting. How long did it take you to conceive your dc if you don’t mind me asking? It puts my mind at rest to hear you have two. We’re trying for our second child.

I have a shorter LP. When ttc, I tracked ovulation and sometimes my LP was only 6 days long. It didn’t take me long to conceive (2 pregnancies) despite being worried about my LP. I’ve read before that ten is supposed to be the minimum.

polkadotpixie · 31/01/2019 21:14

I had a 10-11 day luteal phase and have a 4 month old DS. He did take a year to conceive but I don't think it was due to my luteal phase

mistermagpie · 31/01/2019 22:44

First baby was conceived second month of trying and it took six months for my second baby. I had a ten day lp both times and still do but it obviously didn't matter then. Now sort of trying for DC3 but I'm older now so that might be against me!

I’ve just read it’s okay to support a pregnancy but only just and that it reduces your chances of becoming pregnant because if you implant later it won’t stick and you will have AF before you have the chance. I would like to increase my chances so I’ll just see if I can extend it abit. Thank you to everyone who has replied.

Hi OP,

Ive started taking b vits this cycle, from what Ive read it's better take a vitamin complex that includes B12 as this is needed in order for your body to absorb the B6 properly, so I take B-100 which a lot of people seem to have had good results with.

Good luck!

Cocobana · 01/02/2019 12:45

@TalkingIntoTheEther thank you for your reply. I have recently bought some b vitamins so I will definitely start taking them now I’ve heard such good reviews. I just want to give myself the best chance possible tc and try to lengthen it abit. It’ll be interesting to see if they work, this will be my fourth cycle. Baby dust to you as well, ✨✨✨✨
