Have I miscarried ??

About 2 weeks ago I found out I was pregnant for the first time. A week in I started spotting followed by a heavy flow of red blood that lasted for 4 days with some clots but nothing big. (I’d have been 5 weeks at this point) I did have cramp for one whole day on the 3rd day then no more. I saw the dr on the 3rd day and he told me he thought I’d miscarried and talked me through what to do if it got heavier etc and said to test again in a week to see if it was negative.
Now, almost a week later I’m still having a positive test, my breasts are still sore and I am still having very frequent urination. I also keep feeling a strange feeling like I have butterflies and I’m unsure what it could be?
In my head I’d accepted that I’d miscarried but I don’t know why I still have the symptoms and positive test.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?
I’m assuming it might just take a few more days for a negative, id just thought if the baby had passed the symptoms might have stopped.
Can anyone help?

I also forgot to say that I have always had spotting between periods that the dr told me was an ectropion.

Also, my mum did not know she was pregnant with me until 6 months as she bled, what she thought was a period each time. Can this type of thing be hereditary or am I just clutching at straws?

Hi OP, sorry you're going through this. I know how you feel as I've been there myself, though my bleeding wasn't very heavy. I think you should request a scan and have an examination, especially as you're still getting positive tests and pregnancy symptoms. Could you ring your EPAU and ask to be seen?

Hi, I rang my EPAU last week and was just advised to wait as it would be too early. I’ve made an appointment with my GP for Monday as it was the next one available. Maybe they can shed some light.

Hopefully you'll get answers, it's really worrying when you don't know what's going on and just hoping everything's ok. I had a scan when I was 6 weeks, which showed the baby was ok and they checked my cervix was closed. I bled throughout that pregnancy and all was ok in the end, so I don't think it's 100% you have miscarried. x

Thank you, it’s good to know that someone has been in the same situation. Maybe the dr will be able to atleast check my cervix even if they won’t scan me yet. They didn’t do anything like that when I saw them last week. It was just an assumption. I know they are probably right, it’s just had to accept it completely until you see that negative test i suppose. Thanks for sharing your experience x
